We introduced this blend in 1998 for those who prefer a milder cup. A shade lighter than most our offerings - more toasty than roasty - it was the result of playing with roast and taste profile together for a flavour that appealed to a wider range of palates. Perfectly if you want to wake up to a less intense coffee but still want a lot of character, it`s lively with a citrusy tang that gives way to a clean finish. While I think that Nespresso's own pods are the best I've tasted so far, these Dark Roast pods are a very close second. Main notes are roasted, caramelly, and slightly sweet. Not too bitter nor acidic at all. Overall a bold flavor that goes well on its own or really well in a cappuccino. Definitely a pod that can shine even when introduced to milk. I bought these @ .50c per pod which is an amazing value. Even at the regular .60c a pod you are still making a fine purchase given how regular Nespresso pods are .80c+. ... show more

Looking closely at the capsules themselves Starbucks is adhering to Nespresso's specification for capsule design and function. Starbucks capsules are better made than other Nespresso capsule clones. IMHO Starbucks capsules are as good as, if not even slightly better than, Nespresso's own capsules. Starbucks capsules retain the most honest flavor compared to the source. Competing clone Nespresso capsule brands tend to sour the coffee to my taste. Don't know how Starbucks does it. Their selection is worth the small premium in price. ... show more

As always, the ease of the Nespresso Pod is why I buy them and use them daily. However, I have tried many different brands of Pods and different Flavors and Origins. I am drawn to the Starbucks brand, as it has always been reliable in its flavor. I usually make a latte with my Nespresso Machine/Foamer so the Espresso coffee is perfect for that! I love these nespresso pods. Unfortunately they arrived damaged and you can see the loose coffee grounds in the picture. For some unknown reason Amazon isn’t making it possible to get a refund or replacement. Buyer beware.

These make a great cup of espresso. The only minor drawback is that they don't fit in the Nespresso machine quite as well as some of the other brands I've used. They still function fine, though.
