Description

The Full JourneyAll the episodes from the US sci-fi spin-off series, featuring Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) and the crew of the USS Enterprise.Space. The Final FrontierIn 1987, Star Trek returned to the airwaves... but it revealed a universe with previously unexplored dimensions. Captain Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) took the helm of a very different Enterprise with a crew including Commander William Riker (Jonathan Frakes), Lt. Geordi LaForge (Levar Burton), Dr. Beverly Crusher (Gates McFadden), Klingon Lieutenant Worf (Michael Dorn), the strangely human android Data (Brent Spinner) and empathic Counsellor Deanna Troi (Marina Sirtis). They encountered never-before-seen threats including the seemingly omnipotent entity known as Q and the greedy, scheming Ferengi. Over the next seven years, the mission would continue to ever-farther reaches of distant space.Make IT SOIn season two of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Captain Jean-Luc Picard welcomes some new faces aboard the Enterprise, including Dr. Crusher’s temporary replacement, Chief Medical Officer Katherine Pulaski (Diana Muldaur) and Guinan, the enigmatic bartender. The core crew evolves as they face new and unexpected challenges. Geordi LaForge is transferred from the bridge to become Chief Engineer. In a suspenseful trial, Data must prove that he is a conscious being. Riker is immersed into the warlike culture of the Klingons and in their most dangerous battle to date, the crew takes on the Borg, a cybernetic hive mind that threatens to assimilate all intelligent life.Logic is the Foundation of FunctionIn the third season of Star Trek: The Next Generation, the mission goes further. Dr. Beverly Crusher returns to the ship. A cross-time encounter with another Enterprise leads to the return of deceased crewmember Tasha Yar. A humiliated Q learns what it means to be merely human. The legendary Vulcan Ambassador Sarek, Spock’s father, must cope with his long-suppressed emotions and Captain Jean-Luc Picard faces the greatest threat of his career when he takes on the Borg in a breathtaking showdown. To Explore Strange New WorldsIn the fourth season of Star Trek: The Next Generation, the crew of the Enterprise explores alien cultures in all-new ways. Captain Jean- Luc Picard struggles with the nightmarish horror of assimilation into the hive-mind of the Borg. The ruthless empire of the Cardassians emerges as an important nemesis for the Federation. Suspicion of Romulan sabotage aboard the ship leads to a paranoid power struggle and political manoeuvres within the Klingon Empire draw Worf into an inevitable civil war.A Klingon Never Breaks His WordIn season five of Star Trek: The Next Generation, nothing can be taken for granted in an ever-changing universe. The famous Vulcan Spock rocks the established order when he defiantly flies into Romulan territory. Bajoran Ensign Ro Laren is forced to protect the Cardassians who persecuted her people. Worf learns what it means to be a father, Data discovers the unexpected truth about a time-travelling historian and Captain Jean-Luc Picard must confront a new and unexpected dimension of his greatest enemy, the Borg.To Boldly Go... In season six of Star Trek: The Next Generation, the dangers grow even direr for the crew of the Enterprise. During a behind-the- lines mission, Captain Jean-Luc Picard falls into the hands of a seasoned Cardassian torturer. In an attempt to learn the truth about his father, Worf breaks into a Romulan prison compound. A transporter malfunction resurrects the original series’ Chief Engineer Montgomery Scott. Riker copes with a bizarre identity crisis that pits him quite literally against himself and Data’s quest to understand emotion introduces him to the concept of rage.Where No One Has Gone BeforeIn the seventh season of Star Trek: The Next Generation, the series concluded – but not before airing some of its most unforgettable episodes. Data feels emotion at last, but the quest has made him easy prey for a faction of the Borg. Worf finds himself in conflict with his human foster brother and Captain Jean-Luc Picard discovers that he is trapped between his future and his past in a final trial involving the mysterious Q. For every beginning, there is an end. One chapter of the Star Trek saga was closing... but the mission of discovery would live on.

  • The Next Generation gets a deluxe restoration. The shows look & sound better than ever in this terrific fully-loaded boxset.
BOTTOM LINE: The worthy successor to the classic original series gets the (inter)stellar hi-def polish in this all-encompassing 7-season boxset. Everything about this massive set is first rate. And it's all here, so you don't have to go chasing down odds & ends... with the exception of the theatrical ST:TNG films. But that's a minor quibble (Tribble?). If you've been wanting to pick up the best possible version of the Next Generation then deactivate your scanners and look no further. Just whip out your credit card and "Make it so!" 5 STARS THOUGHTS: It was with great excitement (and more than a little trepidation) that I sat down to watch the premiere episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation on September 28, 1987. Having grown up with the classic series I knew that this show had some large boots to fill. As each season went on it just got better and better. Sure, there were a few rough patches but the show, like the Enterprise herself, weathered them and soldiered on undaunted. The cast became near and dear to my heart and I was sad to see it end some seven years and 178 episodes later, but I also knew that it was better to go out on somewhat of a high point, rather than sink into oblivion and slink out of site. Now, more than 20 years after it left the airwaves, we get this spectacular deluxe boxset, in high definition with extras out the wazoo and the shows themselves tweaked, fine-tuned and looking & sounding better than ever. This is the set you've been waiting for. If you're on the fence because of the price, don't worry. It's worth every penny. Even if you're just a casual fan you'll be very pleased with this all-inclusive edition. The seasons are divided into two massive snapcases with each disc thankfully locked onto its own hub, rather than stacked on a central post or stuffed into little sleeves, like some poor series. There are loads of special features scattered throughout every disc in the set, so you'll find fun stuff sprinkled everywhere for you to look though, pour over and enjoy. Vintage pieces, newly shot interviews & remembrances, technical tidbits, alternate and/or lost footage, and more! A trekker's treasure trove, to be sure. THE BLU-RAYS: Picard & the crew get the razzle dazzle refreshing they’ve been in dire need of since the first VHS and early DVDs hit video store shelves so many years ago. Each episode has been gone through and cleaned & painstakingly restored to as close to brand new as you can get. I was amazed at how well these shows looked. You can tell the team in charge of the restoration & remastering were fans, too. There are some pieces where they compare before & after, and once you've seen what wonders these folks achieved you'll be oh so glad you bought this set. I know I sure am. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • Great Box Set! Really good packaging which is IMPORTANT!
Oh man this really is worth it. And the packaging isn't prepared by a mental patient, which im so glad to see. The discs dont stack over each other to be scratched. It doesnt fall out when you open it. Thank God. You may think this is simple to do but many people dont package discs correctly. Too many a boxset is prepared by idiots or monkeys chained up or something. I got Breaking Bad it was laughable. Just needed to give this boxset its props that it deserves. • Star Trek TNG like you've never seen it before. Add it with an XBOX ONE S and 4K Ultra Blu Ray TV and set phasers for stun!
I owned the entire series in the original DVD and "gave" them to my ex-wife during our divorce along with many other things that meant a lot to me. When I saw TNG remastered and Blu Ray I couldn't wait to get them and even paid for overnight delivery. I must say that I was immediately blown away by the quality of the video! When used on a 4K TV along with a 4K Blu Ray player (in my case, an XBOX ONE S) the quality of the video absolutely blew my mind and actually looked 3D! Now I have to go back and get all of my Star Trek on Blu Ray! I was never really picky about Blu Ray or DVD until now, but HOLY COW!!! WHAT an eye popping difference!!!. To make sure it wasn't a fluke, I also got the Roddenberry Vault in Blu Ray which is restored found footage from the original 1966 -69 series and picture quality from DVD to Blu Ray and then from Blu Ray to 4K is absolutely mind blowing even when it's only upconverted by your equipment! I thought 1080P was the max and they would never get better than than 1080P, but HOLY COW!!!!! I can't believe it and can't wait to see what's next plus, I waited just long enough for the prices to drop and they always do drop in price after the early conversation people have dropped the big bucks to buy it first and early. Now is the time with the Superbowl coming and pricing again dropping just as they did after Thanksgiving. Trust me and spend a little cash on the new 4K Blu Ray player or get an XBOX ONE S or XBOX ONE X (something to play 4K Blu Ray 2160 movies and try playing just a Blu Ray movie. It will knock your socks off and I can't wait for the right movie in 4K Blu Ray to come along for me to try! ... show more

  • The entire series in stunning high definition, in one gorgeous boxed set? Heck yeah!
Well, I'll keep this review short and sweet. The show looks amazing in high definition. Trek veterans Michael & Denise Okuda and their team at CBS Digital had a massive restoration task ahead of them, what with having to track down every single piece of film element for every single episode, as well as the original film elements used for the special effects, checking to make sure they were still useable, then restoring them to their original pristine quality. Restoring a single 90 to 120 minute film is already a pretty big undertaking. Restoring a 7-season TV series consisting of 176 45 minute episodes, plus the 90 minute long each pilot episode and series finale was dauntingly massive undertaking. But, the Okudas not only did it. They succeeded at it with flying colors! The show looks great in high definition! And, it sounds great, too! You have not truly heard ST:TNG until you've heard it in DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 digital surround! The bonus material, including audio commentaries on select episodes (!) are all very entertaining and very comprehensive, fully covering all aspects of the series and it's production, including the restoration efforts. All of this combined makes for one heck of A great boxed set. I highly recommend it! EDIT (10/27/2018): I recently watched the third season episode "The Offspring". The audio and video seemed to be slightly out of sync with each other for the first half of the episode, but not badly so. And, the problem eventually went away. Also, the problem hasn't popped up in any other episodes, so far. Just FYI. ... show more
