I needed to do some digging around my above ground pool under my deck. I wanted a plastic shovel in case I accidentally hit the pool wall, so I'd have less chance of damaging the coating on the steel. This shovel was AWESOME! It's plastic but it's amazingly strong and was a great size for digging on my hands and knees. I will buy more so my kids can use them for gardening in the spring (they forget things outside all the time, this one won't rust and the orange is reasonably easy to spot while I mow the lawn so I see it and stop), good shovels which don't rust are hard to find for a decent price. This hand trowel is very light and seemingly durable - it does the job and is a great addition to a pack is a consideration. I would not expect it ultimately be as strong as a metal on, but as long as you are digging dirt, not prying rocks you should be just fine.

I was using a metal hand trowel but was always worried about my young kids cut themselves. This product is a great replacement and we can even bring it to the beach for them to dig the sand. My wife and i are all happy with it!
