  • Plainly amazing I use it daily, often many times...
I couldn't imagine it working any better or a scenario where I'm happier or more pleased with my choice to purchase it. 😆

  • Travel Ease
This product works on most beds where we have slept away from home. Weight to carry is ok for an elderly person. Makes it much easier for my husband to get in and out of bed on his own.

  • Works perfectly, and am buying another for my elderly father this time.
I bought this last year for my grandmother to help her help herself get in and out of bed easier. She's 91 and I am surprised at how much this helps her, actually. I was afraid she wouldn't even have the strength to use it, but she does! She pulls herself up, and I have no doubt it's helping to keep her strong, as it takes quite a bit of effort for anyone to do that. I did not put on the fabric pocket organizer, as she doesn't have a need for it. There is no tv in their room, and she doesn't read or do word searches anymore. I thought she might try, but she can't concentrate long enough to do any of that. Because the fabric part is off, it has allowed me to attach a cup holder to it, so she has water nearby, and she seems to drink more water that way as well. I also did not attach the strap part to it. We just slid it in with no problems. It is quite secure as it is, and it enables us to slide it over if we need to sometimes. This way works perfect for us. I have actually come back on here to show this to my elderly father. He has congestive heart failure and kidney failure, and is on full bed rest with hope of recovery through alternative means. Seems to be doing a bit better, and I asked him if a bed rail would help, and showed him this one that we got my grandma. He said he thinks it would, so I am ordering one for him in a week or so, as that is when we'll be able to order it. I see it has come down over $20 since I purchased it last year, so I hope it stays this price.....currently $53.99. *This product was originally purchased at regular retail going price, not discounted or free for a promotion. I rate 1-5, and rate 5 when I would purchase again, recommend, and/or would give as a gift. I wholeheartedly recommend, have given as a gift, and am purchasing again. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would. ... show more

  • Liked it so much I am getting another one!
This is a VERY handy item. I originally was worried about how sturdy it would be, but it is much thicker and more sturdy than the pictures show. The only downside I could think of is that the little cotter pins are kind of hard to unfasten to take out in order to fold it out, if you are someone with small or even weak hands. But that was a very minor issue and once put together I won't have to worry as they will remain permanently on the bed. The pouch looks flimsy and kind of plastic in the pictures - it is NOT. It is made of some kind of canvas-y material, with the outer pockets being mesh. The texture on the bar keeps your grip from slipping and looks nice. And the pockets are on the front AND back, which the images did not really show, with loads of room for anything you might want to keep at hand. The person I bought this for watches TV in bed. She has several remote controls for TV and stereo/CD player. She also has remote controls to turn the lights off, a small soap box that contains a wireless doorbell button that acts as our 'nurse call button', and her pulse oximeter. There is room for all this AND the control for the hospital bed with plenty of room to spare. And that is all on her inside (towards the bed) pockets. There are still two big pockets on the outside! I bought this to replace the bed rails that came with the hospital bed, which were far too long, even though they can be adjusted to 'half-length'. I only bought one of these as I just wanted a rail on the bed which she gets up from - when transferring from the bed to wheelchair. She loves it and asked if a second one could be placed on the bed so she can use them to pull herself up in bed. Since the strap holds it against the mattress, it has been sturdy enough for her to use it to pull up against. I am ordering the second one right now! Happy patient and satisfied customer! Five big stars from me. ... show more

  • Great, but...
This seems very nice for travel as it packs in a suitcase, but if you'll notice it is expensive. It has a small hold section because of the cover, has a shorter half round between-the-bed stabilizer (as it folds up for travel), has no support legs, and requires a bed frame for stability (this actually works well just between the mattress and box springs) . The less expensive one (almost half to o third the cost) from Medline has a longer rectangular stability bar that goes between the two bed parts, has legs to stop it stably to the floor. I thought this would be great to travel with but it depends on the type of bed you get and if you need to pack it. I prefer the less expensive one for home/permanent use but this for travel. I do not use the strap. The Medline is harder to travel with, impossible to pack, but feels better and more solid at home. I paid $40 for this and it is now over $62 and the other is still at $28 with the legs. The other looks the same as this except for the above. I have a heavy king. I choose the Medline for home use but not for the price alone. This is more convenient to travel (don't do much now) with but the other is more stabile and has more hand room on the padded bar. This has an inside pocket but it is better to have it close to the mattress and use the pocket on the outside. Using an inside pocket creates an 'area of entrapment'. Ok only if you are fully functional. This top is a little wobbly (has some play) unless it is snugged up to the mattress; the inside pocket is not usable then. I recommend this for travel. ... show more
