  • Very easy install
Had trouble fueling. Was only able to put .10 cents of fuel in per 2 seconds. -This solved my issue. Troubleshoot directions. Before doing any of the following be sure to disconnect the hoses and flow/vent air through them prior. You may just have sediment blocking your fuel HVAC system. Take off your gas tank lid(little black screw on piece you take off to fuel) and put a screw driver in it to keep it open. *to keep the little metal door part open that the fuel nossle at the pump goes into. This lets you blow air through the hoses of the ventilation system effectively. If blowing air through the hoses doesn't work; 1) Disconnect the COAL canister and look for black sediment(coal) found loosely around the edges of where your hoses are plugged in. If so, your filter has corroded and needs to be replaced. Order a new one and blow our your fuel lines with air before installing. *The coal canister may look different for every vehicle. Just google your model of car and type fuel coal filter. Example "08 Chevy Tahoe fuel coal filter" 2) Remove fuel purge valve solenoid hose from top of engine(leave the sensor electrical part plugged in just unplug the black hose). If you get to the gas station and you can fill your tank normally replace the solenoid. Reconnect part and order a new one. The valve sensor has become defective. 2) This product* C02 scrubber vent solenoid. When you remove this device and try to blow air through it. But it closes and stops you from blowing air through it. This device has become defective. And needs to be replaced. It is easy for this device to become defective as the flap can get sediment built up on it more quickly than other parts of the fuel vapor ventilation system because it narrows near the opening. And it causes the open and close vacuum door to get stuck opening and closing only 1 direction. But it needs to let fuel vapors in when fueling. and then when the engine is running to close and let the engine create a vacuum. without this vacuum your fuel pump runs on overtime trying to get fuel to the engine. And thus causing even more issues. If you unplug just this piece after the vent solenoid from the engine and that does not work. Leaving the electrical connection sensor of this device connected and disconnecting it from the coal canister. And it allows you to fuel. Then your coal canister is good. And this is surely the issue. ... show more

  • Fixed eval system error on Silverado
Friend for a quote for $850 to replace fuel pump and this part on her Silverado. Ordered a Bosch fuel pump (an OEM manufacturer) and this part for about $250 total. Loosened and tilted bed (videos on YouTube if you'd like to see how it's done) and had both fixed in about 2 hours. Error codes went away and truck runs like new again. ... show more

  • It works great, but needs a hose that connects to it.
The original part has the hose permanently attached to it. This unit has a quick connect fitting. It needs the hose to come with it or at least be available for purchase. I couldn't find one anywhere. I cut the hose of the old part and bought and adaptor. All the aftermarket brands have the quick connect like this one, I'm really surprised the plastic hose isn't available. I really like Standard Motor Products, and the part functions perfectly. It just involved several trips to town to resolve the hose issue. ... show more

  • Easy fix, perfect fit for 2007 Silverado 4.8L engine
Used this on a 2007 Silverado with 4.8L engine. Electrical connector fit fine, no adapter needed. Original canister had both an inlet port, and an outlet port that went to a long hose (about 5-6 feet) with a small filter at the end. This replacement part has only an inlet port. Price for the original part for the 2007 Silverado was about $100. Read online that this replacement part would work just fine, so gave it a try. Very easy to take the old part off... just cut the heat shrunk hose off, disconnect the electrical connector. The canister has a bracket that slides onto a rail, just wiggle it off, a little spray lube may help. The outlet hose on the original was just held on with a few clips and routed up to sit on top of the transmission housing, comes out pretty easily. New installation required a few inch section of 5/8 heater hose and a 2 hose clamps, re-connect the electrical and slide the bracket onto the rail. Everything fit perfectly. Reset the code using the ODB scanner tool and everything is fine. Remember if you plan to go through inspection station, you will need to drive for about 100 miles after resetting the codes. Vehicle's computer needs to re-gather data after you set the codes or else it will read as "not ready" at the inspection station. Sure that a dealer would have charged a few hundred $$ for this repair. Using this part, the repair was about $30 and took maybe 20-30 minutes total. ... show more

  • It's emissions related, but it doesn't affect engine performance.
Anything related with emissions that sets the check engine light especially in states with emissions testing is expensive to have repaired even if it doesn't affect engine performance and is a simple fix. Remove one 3/8" bolt, unplug one electrical connector, remove a small hose clamp and disconnect the vacuum hose Such is the issue with this evap purge valve on GM vehicles. There are two different GM part numbers for this item that are almost identical, but one costs five times as much, must be for those states with the emissions testing. The price on Amazon was half the price of the less expensive AC Delco part. Replace this part on my friend's 2007 Chevy Silverado 1500 ten years ago. The code popped up again last year but has another year before the next emissions test is due. Connecticut adopted the same emission standards as California more than twenty years ago, and brand new vehicles are exempt from emissions testing for the first five years, but you are charged a $50 emissions fee at the time of purchasing your vehicle. The warranty on emissions is mandated by the federal government for seven years and seventy thousand miles. One big ripoff, and after 25 years your vehicle is exempt from emissions testing with no limits on how many miles you drive each year. ... show more
