  • Short Term Review *Updates*
The factory motor in my Traeger Pro 34 started getting worse and worse, and eventually just could not move the auger any longer(it was hardly used, which is the sad part). Anyway I needed a motor, and needed one fast, as my Wife decided we're doing the turkey on the Traeger this year. I ordered this unit Friday night, and it showed up in my mailbox Sunday! Within 15min I was up and running! My Traeger has never, since day 1 sounded this good, or operated this well, which leads me to believe my factory motor was never 100%. As of writing this review it is 11/27/19, I've only used my Traeger twice since replacing it with this motor, but the real test will be when cooking the turkey tomorrow, but from the looks, I assume this motor should give me a few years of good service. Hec for $23, how could one go wrong. Quick word of advice for those working on any hardware under the hopper of a Pro Series Traeger. Unscrew the 2 screws keeping the temperature dial faceplate on, which will allow you push that piece through the hopper, allowing the hopper to completely come off, and not be in the way. I was foolish the fist few times working on the Traeger, and only ever unscrewed the 4 screws hoping the hopper on, in which case the hopper was still very much in the way. I'll update this review later, and see how this motor does long term. Update: 6/12/2020 Well the first one of these failed after about 6 1/2 months of use. Motor just got super weak, and got to the point it simply wouldn't push pellets any longer. I reached out to customer service, and received a reply within a few hours. Somehow, someway, they managed to get me a new motor the following morning! Impressive. Hoping this new unit will at least give me a year of use! Will leave a 5 star simply for how fast they were able to replace my unit. Thank you! ... show more

  • Good replacement
This is the second time that I have had to replace my motor. The first one did great. Then the auger seized up from not being used in a while and the motor broke when I kicked it on. (not the motors fault) The second replacement works great as well. My son had to replace his and used the same motor... No problems for him. ... show more

  • Customer service excellent
Installed without a problem but it is running at only one speed - the one that keeps the Traeger at 400. A little hotter and maybe we'd keep it for a pizza oven! But instead we've got a still-not-working smoker and a lesson in the hazards of buying after market parts (and waiting past the return window to make sure something works). rating reflects the strength of their customer service. ... show more

  • Fit my pit boss
Motor in my pit boss had gotten weak over the years and at times it would hang up. The little gears just wear out over time. This swapped out pretty easy on mine and I was back up and running again. Replacing these are pretty easy if you plan ahead or have some help. The biggest thing I came across was when I took the bin off the side I needed to have somewhere to rest it and the wires would still reach while I swapped it out. Upside bucket worked for me but I already knew that because I changed one before. And don’t forget that little Allen screw pin that holds the auger shaft in place. You tube has some videos how to change these and it’s pretty easy. ... show more

  • Easy fix, perfect part for my Traeger.
Noticed the Auger wasn't running in my Traeger grill. Took the grill apart and noticed my motor wasn't even engaging when I turned the grill on. Immediately knew I needed another motor. Bought this for half the price of the Traeger name brand model. Just have to remove the old motor with a 7/64" allen wrench and a set of needle nose pliers for the nut. Very easy to do. While you are there, you might as well clean out your auger, since your auger could have been jammed in the first place, causing your motor to burn up. The auger is just held in place with a single screw, you cant miss it and its all very easy to take apart and install. Definitely came in clutch as my grill died less than a week before Thanksgiving. Cant beat the free 2 day shipping and paying half the price of a name brand motor. ... show more

  • Cheap fix for an expensive smoker

  • fails - after only 4 uses
I bought this last June ('22) I didn't replace it for awhile since i wasn't using my Traeger. Since installing it i have only used the smoker about 4 times. I turned on the smoker this morning and didn't hear the auger. I looked under and watched the motor fan as i turned the smoker off and on. the fan would spin for about 1 second and then stop. This happened about 8 out of 10 times. the other times the fan would not spin at all. Thinking that the auger must have jammed I took the motor off and turn it on. The fan behaved as if it were attached to the auger. So it's the motor. Additional, when holding the motor as if fails there is an audible clicking and you can feel something inside the motor housing click. Upon taking the cover off the motor you can clearly see a gear has completely disintegrated. This is the 3rd such 3rd party motor that has failed in the past 4 years. Do yourself a favor any buy the replacement from Traeger. ... show more
