There is another company offering a much more expensive version of this product that I have used in the past. These Amazon anchor hooks are as good or better than those. The construction and machining is very nice. A 1/2" rope will fit through the opening with a whip at the end. This makes for a quick adjust anchor system that almost anyone can use. The loop makes it easy to attach a second rope with a carabiner at each end to secure the anchor hook to the boat. The spring pressure is pretty firm and it holds the rope TIGHT once released. This is a great anchor hook and the pair of them on Amazon is an excellent value.

For anchoring a boat, these are perfect. But I was also hoping to be able to use these in a pulley scenario when camping, and for that purpose, you really need the "line in" to be in the opposite direction. Yes, I can rig it up to work, but it's just something to be aware of depending on your intended use case. Quality of these are excellent though.

These hooks look even more impressive in person, and at the review price of $27, you're getting your moneys worth for the pair. All of the metal is good and thick, and even the weakest link--the spring clip--feels pretty strong and doesn't flex. I really like the polished look, and I found no sharp/rough edges. My only real concern is how they'll hold up in the salt over time... which I may have to update in the future if the condition is less than stellar. I personally hate knots, and have a terrible time remembering all but the most basic ones. These hooks eliminate the need for a knot, and are easily separated to be used elsewhere at a moments notice. Can't find anything to clip onto? Loop the rope around an object and clip onto the rope. Absolutely fantastic for use with a kayak. I may have to order more to keep with my other kayaks.

This is a heavy, substantial stainless steel rope grab. I ordered the silver-colored version and it has a nice, polished finish. The color is a brighter silver than I’m used to for stainless steel, so it does appear to have a bright plating. All pieces are only mildly magnetic, consistent with stainless steel. PROS: The rope grab works very well. I tested it by running a ½ inch three-strand anchor line through, and it grabs very securely. The grab releases easily by pressing the release lever. I could also pull the line through without releasing the lever, but that will cause some wear of the line over time. The hook end has a spring bail that opens to a maximum of about ¾ inch. It would hook on anything larger than that. CONS: Getting my ½ inch anchor line pushed through the opening wasn’t very easy. The rope wanted to get caught on the way through. My anchor line is old and quite flexible and I think a stiffer rope would go through more easily. And as you can see in my picture, ½ inch is about the maximum size that will fit. I tried some 5/8 inch braided line. The end of the 5/8 line is a bit enlarged from heat fusing so it wouldn’t go through at all, but it wouldn’t have fit no matter what the end was like. I did try some 1/4 inch three-strand rope and it grabbed that securely. OVERALL: This is a beefy fitting that works very well with a ½ inch maximum line size. But be advised that you have to account for any spreading of the end of the rope from heat fusing.

I purchased this stainless-steel quick release boat anchor slide set for use with my Kayak and Canoe primarily for river/camping trips. When I saw this product, I knew it would be the perfect solution for safely securing the watercraft along the riverbanks quickly and easily even with a bit of a water current flowing by due to the ease and adjustability of this system and not having to constantly untie and tie back rope with knots or using wet and unwieldy cordage as I have had to do in the past. I purposely chose the matte black color as the alternative while also very attractive looking was a high polished stainless-steel finish which in my experience has the potential to create an annoyingly blinding glare when continually caught in the sun on a bright day. I was pleasantly surprised at how solidly built these quick release hooks are as I have now seen other reviews have also mentioned. I was also very glad to see they are constructed entirely out of metal with no plastic parts to be a possible weak point from a long-term durability standpoint.

These anchor hooks are a cool addition to my boat. The rope easily slides in one side and out the other. The rope will slide in one direction but will lock up in the opposite direction. Making them an easy way to anchor up to a dock and adjust the length of the rope holding your boat. Then to release you push the lever and the rope will slide right out. These are also constructed of durable stainless steel which will prevent them from getting rusty in the future. Just keep them clean and you are good to go.

I am happy with the build quality of these hooks. They're solid metal with a good finish on all the edges. I'm not very impressed with the latching mechanism for the rope. It has very little texture I wish it had more fins or whatever to grab the rope stronger. This is definitely designed for very thick rope and is expecting the rope to have the texture.
