  • Overall a Great Value...
Style: 60s Thinline Color: Natural
My teenage son bought this as his second electric guitar as an "advanced-beginner". He is super-pleased with it and plays it daily. He was particular to this specific model. I think his only criticism is the maple fretboard finish seems a bit "sticky" or "grabby". But I've read this can be dealt with easily enough. He also was on the fence about the 21 frets. In hindsight he would have appreciated 22 or even 24. But that can mean a very different guitar. It is hard to find everything you want in just one guitar. If you are going to own two electrics, a telecaster is a nice second IMO. Overall this is a great value. ... show more

  • Love it!
Style: 60s Thinline Color: Natural
I already owned other Squier Classic Vibe models and they're all great guitars for the money so I figured the same for this one, and it is. Fit and finish is excellent, setup was almost perfect (just lowered the action a bit), fretwork is fine, no sharp or uneven frets, nicely polished. The pickups sound like a Tele should, you could upgrade them to Texas specials or whatever, the guitar is worthy of it, but they sound fine as is. Be sure to put new strings on it, I do that with every new guitar. Old cheap import strings can cause problems and limit the tonal quality. I did put on brass compensated bridge saddles because 1. they intonate better, and 2. they look and sound good. But it was fine before I did. The one piece maple neck feels great, it's glossy with a nice vintage amber color but it doesn't feel sticky. If that bothers you it's easy enough to use some steel wool to take it to satin level. Highly recommend this guitar, whether you're a beginner or just adding to your collection without breaking the bank. ... show more

  • Really nice guitar
Style: 60s Thinline Color: Natural
I had wanted a telecaster thinline for a while. I thought the Squier would would be okay and that I could add better parts to it to make it my own. But I was completely blown away with how good it was. It looks absolutely stunning and feels great to play. After only a quick tune it was good to go and the intonation was spot on. I'll admit that my expectation were not too high but this guitar is really nice and I'm really glad got this guitar ... show more

  • Great value for an instrument under $500.
Style: 60s Thinline Color: Natural
The only downside after having this guitar for a couple of months is that the tuners are just a little cheap feeling. They stay in tune just fine, but don't have a solid feel to them. Otherwise, love this guitar- really playable, great feel, nice tone options. I play mostly chord melody jazz guitar, and the front pickup has a nice smooth tone, and it is super comfortable. I think it is a little ugly, but I painted the pickguard black and sanded down the finish so it is less shiny, and I think it looks much better. Wish that this model came in a clear finish. ... show more

  • You can’t have it back
Style: 60s Thinline Color: Natural
I took a flyer on a sub $300 warehouse special and it was perfect… not a blemish or scratch anywhere and it played and sounded wonderful both plugged and unplugged. I figured there had to be something that it needed so I took it to a master luthier and gave him carte blanche to do anything to it that it needed. His judgment was other than needing a truss rod adjustment, it was perfect. The frets are level and the ends are smooth, the pickups sound fantastic and the electronics are solid. He thought this was higher quality than what Fender put out in 1969. We live in amazing times and they may not last forever… hit that buy it now button! ... show more

  • Great value if on a discount
Style: 60s Thinline Color: Natural
I got an awesome deal on Amazon Warehouse - which is what's driving the 5 star review. Its was noted as having a "large imperfection" but the cosmetic imperfections were very acceptable and well worth the discounted price. Where the negative comment comes in is the actual playability of the guitar. Being a household brand, I expected much more. My unit had extensive fret buzzing on 6E, and a deadzone (pure buzz) in the upper 1E, nothing that can be caused by poor shipping. The guitar was wrapped in custom thick foam. UPDATE: My Luthier informed me many of the frets were popping, which is causing the extensive fret buzz. This product is defective likely from the factory. Its going to be returned. Too bad. Was looking forward to playing it. I had to take it a professional luthier to make the instrument playable. As with all mass produced products these days, quality can be a hit or miss. Mine was a miss, not playable out of the box, but really can't complain because of the awesome deal from Amazon. If I had to pay full price, that's a different story, and the review won't be as kind. I would be sending the product back. ... show more

  • Nice instrument, excellent value
Style: 60s Thinline Color: Natural
At this price point, you really can't beat this thing. Make sure you order a set of strings with it though or you are going to be frustrated out of your mind trying to tune the set that comes with it. Once you replace the strings you're going to love it. Recommend taking it to get it setup professionally as well, like you should with any guitar. ... show more
