While small in stature, the Classic Vibe �60s Mustang packs a punch of incredible tone courtesy of the dual Fender-Designed alnico single-coil pickups. Small hands will appreciate the short 24� scale length and slim, comfortable �C�-shaped neck profile with an easy-playing 9.5�-radius fingerboard and narrow-tall frets. This Mustang is faithful to the original with a vintage-style tremolo system for expressive string bending effects and floating bridge with barrel saddles for solid string stability. This throwback Squier model also features 1960s-inspired headstock markings, rich-looking nickel-plated hardware and a slick vintage-tint gloss neck finish for an old-school vibe. Great guitar! Plays wonderfully and it stays in tune well. The tremolo bar needed a little tightening and I adjusted the neck slightly but those weren’t difficult fixes. I’d recommend this to anyone. Save a grand just to not be labeled “Fender” instead of “Squier “. All the switches worked great. I love the rhythm circuit too! I’ve wanted a Jaguar for forever and this definitely scratches that itch. Oh! I also love the shorter scale. Can reach chords and notes a lil easier. The weight is light feeling too. I did change the strings to Earnie Ball Power Slinky. I’d recommend this too. Just a fun guitar!😺 ... show more

Wow! I always wanted an offset guitar and did a little research before purchasing. As with many products there are positives as well as negative reviews and you have to weigh the options. That being said I decided to give the squire 70’s CV Jaguar a try. Before the guitar arrived I will admit I was very skeptical & expected something that would require a lot of work & attention to make playable. (Side note: I had a horrible experience with an American made telecaster a couple of purchases ago in hindsight I should’ve returned or refused the guitar but did the work needed to be done). When the Jaguar arrived I can say the setup was perfect as well as everything else. The quality was on par or better than the higher dollar fenders and the sound is excellent! I am very impressed. Made me a believer! Import or not this guitar is worth the price! ... show more

    • Squier CV 70s Jag - Worth it, but expect some extra work

I had seen a few video teardowns of the Squier Classic Vibe 70s Jaguar and had my concerns, but I decided to take a chance and order through Prime so I could return it if needed. I am keeping the guitar. Here’s my take: Pros - • The 22-fret neck feels great; shorter scale length makes it pretty easy to play. My Strat and Tele each have 21 frets, and I like the extra real-estate that even the one additional fret provides. • Alnico pickups are jangly and punchy, and once I figured out the Jaguar’s switching I was pulling warm jazziness, solid overdriven rock, Tele twang, and Strat chime, but all with something extra that I think might be unique to the Jag. Sounded real nice. Didn’t hear any hum even with gain, but that’s going to depend on other factors besides just the guitar, so don’t rule out the possibility of hum/noise with your own gear. • No “barbed-wire” frets when running my hand along the side of the neck. • Electronics are sound. The switching takes getting used to. • Guitar is holding tune. • Was planning to put in locking tuners, but I kinda like these vintage style tuners. • Looks fantastic. Let’s all just agree that this is important 🤘 Cons - • The stock tremolo plate/arm assembly on the Squier Jag really is garbage. Expect to either replace it or to put in some elbow grease if you have the know-how and tools (I don’t). • Laurel fretboard is bone dry. • Some annoying sitar sounds due to strings making contact in weird places. • Some high spots on the neck. • Very slight string binding at the nut. You can see that the majority of the Cons will be alleviated by a normal setup which we should be doing anyway on a new guitar. I am also having an official Fender American Vintage tremolo assembly put in. If you buy this Jaguar, expect to do something similar, so do be sure to check the price on a replacement Jaguar trem assembly and factor it in to your total cost. Other companies besides Fender make Jag trems, but I wanted to stay in-house because I like the consistent branding and I’ve heard good things about the official Fender AVRI trem as a replacement for the Squier one. In spite of my initial disappointment with some of the out-of-the-box issues like the trem, I still played the guitar for several hours the day it came in, and more the next day before dropping it off at the shop for setup. Really looking forward to getting it back with a proper setup and new trem. Thanks for reading. I hope this has been at least somewhat helpful as you make your decision. ... show more

Impeccable is all I can say! Wasn't expecting this level of craftsmanship but they blew it out of the park. The guitar even came perfectly setup and in tune which is amazing for a jaguar type instrument. The color is a little bit duller in person but it still looks amazing; I expect it will bloom when the UV rays ages it. Anyways, did I mention poplar bodies on Jaguars are indeed vintage accurate? Also, I cannot tell the laurel fretboard from a rosewood one. Its very nice and consistent unlike rosewood which you will get the luck of the slim pickings. I would rank these up there with their japanese counterparts in terms of craftsmanship. I forgot to mention that the electronics sound amazing: alnico pickups! Maybe this guitar is not 100% vintage accurate in some small things but this is an axe of its own. These will be legendary in the near future, and may be dissed like japanese squiers where back then. In the mean time this guitar will serve wonders in my classic rock inspired cover band. I was not a believer but now I want the jazzmaster too! ... show more

OMG I LOVE THIS GUITAR!!! - Once I got it all set up I can't seem to put it down. Watched a lot of YouTube video reviews before I pulled the trigger so I was ready when it showed up to do some tweaking but it was in really good shape on arrival. Zero issues with fit and finish. I did wrap some electrical tape around the bridge posts to keep them from moving too much and messed around with string height. Then I also replaced the tortoise shell pick guard with a mother of toilet seat white one from Musiclily (Pro 10-Hole 65 60s Vintage Style Guitar Pickguard for Fender American) which I also love. Put a lot of lemon oil on the fingerboard (mutiple times) and that really helped make the block inlay pop. The Fender tremolo with logo was added by me just because I liked it - nothing wrong with the tremolo that it was shipped with. Also put on Ernie Ball #2593 flatwound strings (nine gage) which are well worth the extra bucks. I also own an USA made Tele and a MIM Acoustisonic Tele which were my favorites until this baby showed up. In my opinion this guitar is as good as the other two although it is way less money.
