  • Very interesting quality, awesome sound
Color: Brown Sunburst Style: Short Scale
I was very surprised when I found the neck and frets are butter smooth on mine, despite others saying how sharp and rough they might be. Strings are rather light and bend easy, I'm not use to this because I play med heavy strings in acoustic. It was a nice change :) Paint quality is top notch, and sound is better than expected (especially when I use headphones on the OK quality amp) The ONLY issue........ some of the screws were either going in slightly crooked or not tightened all the way for both the guard and trem covers. ( I'm leaving them that way, gives it character haha) Other than that, very very comfy in the hand ( I have short fingers and fat thumb meat) Love the sound and my first time playing the tremolo sent me to another place! Nice feature to mess around with. I would buy this again just to have two. My first upgrade might be thicker strings for the sake of my muscle memory working better. Otherwise, I will cherish and baby this thing all its days. Appreciate the fender bag. I hope yours will be as buttery and well finished as mine, it's a real sweety. P.s. the paint was perfect until I touched it, so the photo has smears ... show more

  • You are getting what you pay for
Color: Black Style: Short Scale
This is my first guitar, and I bought this one due to the convenience of the guitar + amp in 1 package. The amp is great, I would recommend it. However, the pick guard on my guitar was scratched quite a bit all along the right side. The cable is also not the best, it doesn't fit snugly in the guitar on either end so I had to buy a new one. The amp pictured is a Frontman 15G, but this comes with a Frontman 10G. ... show more

  • Good enough complete set for beginners but needs to be tuned.
Getting into playing over COVID lockdown so ordered this because could not go into local music shop to pick up myself. Wanted decent guitar that was already packaged for shipping. Not moderate level guitar that was thrown in 1/2 done shipping from store to get damaged in transit. For that purpose It comes boxed in separate shipping box. Then each item is boxed separately within the store shelf box. So if your sending as gift some place else, probably couldn't do any better as everything came out in good shape. Guitar and included AMP are bottom line Fender products but kit comes with everything a beginner could need to start except knowing what to do with it. But if you register the guitar online with Fender and get free Fender Play online videos can try to learn by. The guitar came seriously out of tune. Get clip on tuner or use Fender's free Tuning APP. I compared that vs. my clip on tuner and both had almost same readings so that beginner wont notice / care. There are many videos YouTube for upgrading this stock with better parts to get more out of the guitar. This works fine with Rocksmith video game. ... show more

  • Strings are too close together for a man
There was no manual for the guitar, it all arrived ok and in good order, please note the strings on these guitars are so close together that an adult male will have hard time playing these guitars.

  • Nice looking beginner guitar kit at a great price
I've always been interested in learning the guitar but never really got around to it. I finally decided that this was the year to take it up. I was happy to find this set as I needed everything. I picked up the Candy Apple Red model and it is a very nice looking guitar, especially with the black pickguard. The packaging is very well done - the outer rectangular box holds the amp, accessories, and guitar boxes, which fit together like pieces of a puzzle and keep everything from moving around during shipping. They have an empty guitar-sized box in the package to keep the actual guitar from moving around during shipping, which is nice because it avoids excessive use of Styrofoam. The guitar itself is wrapped very well to prevent damage, and there is protective film on the pickguard and humbucker pickup to prevent scratching. The film come off easily once you get it started, though I did have an issue getting it out from under the volume and tone knobs. The guitar in my kit was made in Indonesia - apparently in March of 2020 based on the inspection tag that comes tied to the headpiece. Everything was in order and it seems well put together. The neck is straight and I'm not getting any fret buzz from the strings, and all the parts fit in there respective places nicely. It needed a tuning, of course, but most of the strings (except for low E) were close to where they needed to be. The included Frontman 15 amp was smaller than I though it would be - my mind had scaled it larger based on the pictures - but it is a decent beginner piece of equipment. Like the guitar, everything is in place and there are no blemishes. The guitar sounds good. It's very clean when the amp is using the clean channel, though there is slight pickup hum when using either of the single coil pickups individually, though that is generally expected. Using the neck/middle or middle/bridge position helps eliminate this. The humbucker is nice and at the moment I like its sound the best so far, but that is just my preference. I do like having the various options with the switch so I can tweak the sound based on what I want to get out of the song I'm attempting to play. The amp's clean channel does a good job and pairs well with the guitar. The overdrive is nice as well, especially when using the humbucker. The other accessories in the kit are decent, but nothing special. The guitar strap is basic black with the Fender logo, and the padded gig bag is basic as well, though the front pocket (where the backpack strap is initially kept) is a handy place to keep the tremolo bar (when not in use) and zip lock with the Allen wrenches, spring, and extra picks. I like the fact that Fender included a 3-month Fender Play subscription in the package. That is definitely enough time to take several of their lessons and figure out if it is worth getting a regular subscription. I would definitely recommend this either for an absolute beginner or someone who wants a decent guitar and amp but doesn't want to spend too much money. ... show more

  • Decent, but...
I received my package as expected and in good condition. However, upon trying to remove the wrap from the face of the guitar, the lightest string came undone. No problem I figured, and I attempted to restring it. Turns out that the string was assembled without a ball end, while all of my others had one. Now I have to buy new strings... I guess this is just a case of getting what you pay for. Everything else I tested and it all works great. ... show more
