  • A Lot of Bang for your Buck!
Color: 3-Color Sunburst
I'm an acoustic guitar player with intermediate skills. I'm up early and spouse gets up late. I needed something to play in the morning without making much noise, so I bought a fender mustang micro plus headphone amplifier and this squire affinity strat. I took a chance on the Squier strat because my main interest is acoustic guitars and I didn't want to spend a ton of money on an electric. Anyway, I took the chance and it paid off big time. This guitar was playable right out of the box. I thought I'd have to do a set up, but found it unnecessary. Neck was perfect. Fret ends were clean. Intonation was on the mark. A very pretty sunburst. If I had a complaint it would be the tuners. I don't know what the gear ratio is, but I'd guess 10:1. I'll probably pick up some better tuning machines after the spouse calms down (I have spent a ton of money on guitars so even a relatively inexpensive guitar makes life uncomfortable for a while). The tuning machines aren't a deal breaker. They just make the guitar a little harder to tune. As a final word I'll say that if I had this guitar when I started playing it would have been much easier on my fingers. If you're thinking about taking up electric guitar, this one is a great choice. It's also a great choice for acoustic players who want to dabble in the electric world without spending a fortune. ... show more

  • Worth every penny
Color: Black and White
Great guitar, sounds great. Tuning was easy. I just wish UPS was better, the first one delivered was crushed. Had to get another one. Purchased for my 15 year old granddaughter and it's a nice fit. She loves it.

  • I'd go with high quality low end guitar for the price.
Color: Lake Placid Blue
I'm happy with the purchase. It's a decent guitar quality for the price. And it looks good. So there's that. I actually find I'm playing it just as much as my mid tier PRS. And have no complaints about it's tone. The thing also holds it's tune well. I probably put in 5 to 9 hours a week of non-aggressive playing. It'll hold it's tune upwards of a week or two. If I was forced to find one complaint. It'd have to be that I have a tendency to push low E off the board. Especially when using vibrato. Not a problem I've had with other guitars. At least not in years. And on occasion. The string will get caught on the fret edge. But that just tells me I need more fine motor control. So more user than product. And maybe some fret edge clean-up so the string doesn't snag when I screw up. ;-) ... show more

  • Great starter gutar
Color: Lake Placid Blue
Great starter gutar for your kid or yourself. Needs a tune and some assembly required. But still jamming and rocking out

  • Very nice
Color: Olympic White
Very impressed by the finish and quality of neck and body. The bridge is decent as well. Action was almost exactly the way I like it. I knew the tuners would eventually be an issue, so I replaced them right away. The bridge pickup is a little too bright for my taste, but the neck pickup is sweet. Still has a lot of those nice Strat tones even with humbuckers. Overall sound and playability are excellent. Nice to see that something really good can still be affordable. ... show more

  • Great affordable Strat (for daily usage)
Color: Black and White
I wanted to purchase a second guitar to give a breath to my main guitar which is a Fender Telecaster made in Mexico. This affordable Strat plays and sounds great since it’s an instrument made by the second Fender’s brand following the instructions and specs of a real Strat. It came very well packaged and plays nicely right out of the box. I made a standard setup grading the pickup high and cleaning it very well, my only complaint it’s about the finish (it’s a very thin layer of polyester finish) and the body thickness (it seems to be 3/4 of the thickness of a real Strat) I guess it’s because is an instrument focused on beginner students, but fits really good as a second guitar for an advanced or even professional guitar player. ... show more

  • The best inexpensive guitar I have ever played.
I have a Fender American Professional II that I truly love. I wanted a Strat Humbucker, because the neck on my Les Paul is so different from the Strat, it actually impedes my playing going from one type of guitar to the other. The Strat is my main guitar. Some people can switch back and forth, but for me, it is a bit of a problem. I have been playing guitar for 30 years, and finally found the solution. I thought an inexpensive Squire Stratocaster would give me the Humbucker sound I like for certain songs, but would also feel like a Strat, although a much cheaper version. Well, I have to say I was blown away by how good this Stratocaster Affinity made in Indonesia really is. The craftmanship on this $256.00 guitar is outstanding. The pickups sound great through my Fender Super Sonic 22 and my Marshall DSL20. It stays in tune too, after stretching the strings a bit. The knobs are smooth, and the nut is well cut. It has a 2 point trem and only one string tree, just like the Professional II. And the Laurel fretboard is so smooth, it actually feels like ebony. Complaints? One minor one: The side dots on the maple neck are a little off. But other thant that, well, on a scale of 1-10, I would give this beauty a 9.5! ... show more

  • Great buy
Color: Black and White
Absolutely great… expected good , got great. Payer right out of the box. Just set the action and pickup height to my liking and handed it to my granddaughter for her first lesson
