  • Overall very good guitar, some quality control issues
Color: Satin Sea Foam Green
As shown in the pics, the screws on the pickguard (which on Fenders is actually part of the structure of the guitar) are not drilled straight. It's a small detail but demonstrates an issue of quality control. I have cheaper guitars (eg a Donner thinline TC that I bought as a cheap bang around guitar) that are at least drilled straight. Again a smaller issue but one that should not be present on a $500 guitar (admittedly I got this on a Prime sale for much less but still). So too, the magnets in the pickup are not evenly set and while this is again not a major issue, it just isn't something that should be on a guitar of this price. As other reviews have said, this will need setup, but reality is that is true of pretty much any guitar, even pricier ones should have a proper setup even if they are playable out of the box. I just finished doing a full setup on this and it wasn't bad, the neck was very close to straight and only needed minor tuning of the truss rod. The frets were generally even and only needed a bit of touching up. The tuners feel solid and the finish is overall high quality. I love the turquoise seafoam green and gold pickguard with the white accents and hammered metal features. Another small point was that the strings were showing signs of rust. Any proper setup includes replacing strings so this isn't a big deal, and I think has to do with it being a 2022 model sold in 2023, but again not a great point when unboxing it. As to the actual tone quality it's generally excellent, gives the old school vibe that matches the finish. I will say that the volume control knob seems to go down rapidly, like 10-9-4-2-1-1-1-1 so be mindful of that. Overall I still give it 4 stars, would be five if the quality control was better, but try to grab it on sale as the $500 price tag seems high considering these points. I have cheaper guitars that had better quality control. ... show more

  • Quality Problems. Ok after setup .
Color: Satin Sea Foam Green
The media could not be loaded. I bought this on Prime day for $300. Great deal. But, if you do not know how to setup a guitar, then factor in another $100 to have it set up. The nut wasn't glued in and the high e nut slot was low causing the string to rest on first fret. The other fret slots were too high. I had to glue it and add material to two slots , then recut them. Also, the tremolo would pop when pushed down. To fix this, you need to loosen the three in line screws, in front of the string mount, then retighten them. Also, the higher frets were fretting out, even with the string height at spec. The neck would not adjust to .000 gap to straightedge before fret job. The best I could get was about .002-.005". While leveling the frets,I had to take a little extra off the higher frets to compensate for the neck defect. It plays fine now, but a lot of work to get there. As a former Quality Tech, it appears that there is little quality inspection done on these. I would guess that they sample inspect, that is one out of 5, or one out of 10 actually get inspected. ... show more
