  • Fun, Creative, Music Lovers Game
My family and our guests enjoy this game very much, even the reluctant players ended up belting out their favorite songs. None of us can sing - ok, well maybe 2 out of the 8 that played had nice voices, the rest of us didn't care. It took a little bit for us to really get into the game. Each person gets their own paper for trigger words and then you start rolling the dice. What I liked best about this game is the cards you can draw. They're very fun and creative. My 16 year old nephew had to make a rap (he loves rock so this was a challenge), and I had to sing the national anthem...by myself. It was hilarious. Since we had players that were 12 to 65, we had quite the range of music and songs. Often the generations didn't know each other's music, but that's okay. This is definitely a game where the more fun you make it, the more fun it will be. Meaning, if you just sit there and don't sing, it will probably suck. If you're up for some mind bending challenges and a good time, bring your energy and let loose. It's actually quite hard to think of songs on the spot while everyone else is chiming in with their own tunes. I found my entire iPod would disappear from my mind and I wasn't very good at the personal challenges. No worries, I still had a blast and look forward to playing again. Very creative game that will change each time you play it depending on the players. I would recommend for teens, families, a groups of friends. All around great game for all (little ones may be lost, but will enjoy the songs:) ... show more

  • I'd like to give a Big Shout Out for this game- 5+ stars
When I bought this game my husband read the description and thought it sounded terrible because not everyone could sing. We get together regularly with our pastor and her husband to play games and took this game. The pastor was leery because she didn't think she knew many songs other than hymns, but once the game started well it turned out she did. Who knew Abba had so many songs? Sometimes you can pick a word from the easiest song and no one will get it. I used the word "Ray" as in Do-Re-Me; ray a drop of golden sun. Stumped everyone! A very common word such as "from " can be really hard in 15 seconds. Of course later on you can think of lots of songs those words in them. Well, maybe not Ray. We loved the game and ended up playing it twice that night. When we played with our 26-year-old son and his girlfriend, he killed us coming up with songs to almost every word and they were all songs that we had heard before. We just took the game to Texas and played with our eldest son, his wife, son (nine), sister-in-law and brother-in-law. It's amazing how many times one word will come up and two people will shout out the same song. It was hilarious when someone got a Spontuneous Card and made up something you had to do while singing. One thing was you had to touch your nose and wiggle your fingers. If you didn't do this while singing out your song, it didn't count. My grandson loved playing but did get a little frustrated because the adults were so fast in shouting out songs. So, don't worry if you can't sing in tune because it really doesn't matter. You just have to think fast and shout your song out. Unfortunately we left our game in Texas. I'm convinced it was hidden from us. Anyway, we liked it so much that I do plan on ordering the game again. Definitely a five star game! ... show more

  • Looks like fun if you're good at thinking up key words to songs
We haven't had a chance to play this game yet because we bought it during the coronavirus pandemic, however I was able to read through the very simple instructions and get the gist of the game. The only thing I thought disappointing about it was that the players have to come up with words from songs themselves. I was expecting A list of words for people to use as clues for the rest of the people to guess from, but each person in the game has to come up with their own lists of words to use in the game. My suggestion to the game inventor, is that they at least include a list of words that people can start out with and then they can come up with their own words later. If you have never played this game, the idea is for each person playing to come up with five key words that they will ask the other players of the game to come up with a song from that keyword. I think that some people may have trouble coming up with keywords until they played a few rounds of the game. Anyway, that's my suggestion! ... show more

  • Hilarious and fun for the whole family!
I have purchased this game two years in a row as a Christmas gift for families. This past Christmas, the family I gifted it to LOVED it and we have been playing as much as we can! We have played with ages ranging from 10 years to 40+ years. However, the 10-year-old does have trouble with thinking of songs quickly. Spontuneous requires thinking of a list of "trigger words." When it is your turn, give one of your trigger words and everyone has 15 seconds to SING a song with AT LEAST 5 words including your trigger word. Whoever sings and wins the round can roll the dice to move their piece forward on the board. If no one can sing it, YOU have to prove that you actually know a song with that trigger word and you may roll the dice to move forward. I liked to make it challenging so of course, I can win! For example, my trigger word was "except" in which no body knew a song including that word! My song in mind: "What can I say EXCEPT you're welcome!" (From Moana) As your piece moves forward on the board, you may land on clef and pick a card. These cards have fun challenges and have your piece advance a few spaces, but they can also move your piece aaaallll the way back to start - I know from experience as I was SO CLOSE to the finish line!! Not sure if there's already a rule for this situation, but we made one anyways. Our rule was that if more than one person began singing the same exact song, the winner is whoever can sing the song the longest! Overall, Spontuneous is such a blast for ALL ages and I highly recommend for a fun, competitive, hilarious game night! ... show more
