Solid Axe But Needs A Bit Of Work

A very serviceable axe head. The eye runs pretty small so you will be shaving a lot from your new handle. Little to no taper in the eye so it can be mounted is either direction. The steel is quite hard, not 65 as in the ad copy but probably high 50s. Axe took a good edge but I'll have to see how it holds up long term. Axe came with a clear coat to prevent rusting, I removed it with acetone and gave it a further polish.

One of the best axe heads I've seen that wasn't customized just for me

I really like this splitting axe. This splitting axe is specially crafted for competitions, hand-forged from special steel to ensure durability and sharpness for both competitive events and demanding outdoor tasks. Specifically designed for tree felling, this tree felling axe features sharpened blades to ensure optimal performance and a competitive edge. The axe head Blade Length is 7.6 in. / Axe width: 7.6 in. / Axe Eye Size: 0.87 in × 2.2 in. / Head Weight: 5.84 lbs. / Hardness: 64-66. Although the description states this is primarily for felling trees, I have to wonder with a seller named "THRWCLUB" if this wasn't initially made for axe throwing. I haven't found it being off balance, etc, so I'm just not sure. When I first received this item I did my typical initial inspection and didn't find any major issues or defects that would render this unusable or unsafe to use (if you know how to use an axe!). At this price point (~$160) although this is really pricey, I believe this is a really good value for a competitive axe head. My quick search didn't find any other competitive axe heads. Would I order this again? Absolutely for competitions. Hope this helps.
