    • Pretty interesting book.

Awesome book. Really wanted design plans for my back yard. However, it is a nice coffee table book. Enjoyed looking at pools so have encountered across the world and sites I have visited with history mentioned.

    • Mostly not spectacular. A few wonderful pools with adjacent landscaping and decks or great views.

I thought that in general, it was a mediocre book. The vast majority of the pools depicted are small rectangles with little of note. What makes some of them interesting are the adjacent landscaping and the architectural features of the patios, decks, and sometimes pool houses. Many of the photos show a pool overlooking a lake, ocean, or spectacular city view. Some that I thought were especially interesting are: * Page 63: actress / singer Cher’s pool overlooking the Pacific Ocean in Malibu. The book was published in 2019 so she may still live there (2026). * Page 149: Gianni Versace’s backyard pool in Miami Beach. * Page 162: the indoor Roman Pool at the Hearst Castle in San Simeon. An entire chapter depicts pool houses. One must relax properly, mustn’t one? Other notable pools are associated with mansions in Bali in Indonesia. The book was not what I expected at all. Very few photos of pools that would be in a backyard. Almost all celebrities pools were featured in the book
