Never heard of the Ghosthorn brand before, but I decided to give it a try because of the features it had. I received the product super fast and was impressed with the design. Very smooth 5.1:1 gear ratio, the line lay feature on the spool really holds braided line well with no slippage. I love the anti reverse bearing (zero play on the handle) and the knob design with a folding handle feature that works without having to loosen the handle to fold down. Easy casting and no birds nest, I am a bait cast person just thought i would try a spinster and i have got a good one here. I have had no problem learning to cast this reel easy to learn. I do think i will change it to a right hand reel seems like i have a hard time closing the bail when i retrieve after cast, other than that very good reel. Reel arrived today. The first thing I noticed was the vibrant, sharp cosmetic appeal of the green and black together. I went ahead and set my rig up. I then got to the beach where I almost immediately noticed farther casting distances and smooth retrieval. As of right now, this is an excellent product for your money.     • Broken handle after 4.5 months of light use.

I purchased this reel because it initially seemed like a good purchase. I strongly caution fishermen that fish more than the occasional once a month outing. Drag on the reel was great, but beware. This reel has a lot of plastic main components. Handle should be made of metal. *****Update ***** I am providing my update of this review. The seller is standing behind their product. They provided a replacement handle to the reel that has been redesigned with stronger materials. My recommendation is that the way the handle folds be further redesigned or strengthen the screw holding the handle in place so that it can be torqued down to reduce a potential failure. Rating upgraded to 3 stars from previous 1 star rating. I will update this review again if the handle fails. ... show more

Out of the box it looks to be of good quality. This reel is probably the smoothest spinning reel I have owned. I lined it with 30lb. power pro braided line. I tested its casting by putting a 2 oz weight on and casting it. It actually casted 30 to 35 yards further than the reel I was using. I casted it multiple times with no problems and no line twist. Plan on using it both in fresh and saltwater. I have only had the product for little over a week so I cant yet attest to durability but after using it I will try and update the review. ... show more

Received these reels in a timely fashion. They are smooth, as attested to by other buyers, so that's a welcome plus. The workmanship appears to be good and they came with a parts breakdown sheet. That's always good, even though I hope to never need it. I just recently spooled them with 30# braid. After a couple of shore fishing trips I'll add to my review. Thia reel popped up when I searched "saltwater reel" I read the reviews and thought man I've never heard of this brand before but I will give it a shot. It worked good for the first few trips I took it on. It eventually seased up on me so i had to take it all apart and clean all the aluminum corrosion and rust out of it. I spray all my gear of with the hose whenever i get home from a saltwater trip. Now everytime I go to use it it is locked up from rust and corrosion.
