    • Good primer.
This primer is pretty darn good for the price.. It is a little thick for HVLP gun with 4.0 tip so I thinned it 5% and used three coats.. It was still a good build thickness and was able to block sand with 600 grit, wet and it left a nice, smooth surface. It sands easily. So far after being painted, I don't see any shrinkage or dry back spots. It's been a month and so far so good.. I would have to say it's better than I thought it would be. For a user friendly primer at a cheaper price, I definitely recommend it! ... show more

Start off, I am a first time painter. This is my 1988 Suzuki Samurai. I chose Speedokote because of their reputation for great products. This by far is the best primer for a first time user. Was used with a Harbor Freight primer gun. Layed down very even. Three coats does the trick. Covers many imperfections. This product is thick, so I did use the Speedokote reducer 4:1. Sands very easy. I can not wait till I layed down my first coat of red on her. Speedokote, I would do a review on your red single stage paint if you send me some. Thanks 😊 ... show more

i use this primer a lot at home on my own stuff. i think its the best primer money can buy. i see some reviews saying its too thick. i spray it out of my SATA jet RP gun with a 1.3 inner head and needle. it lays down and sprays great. i recommend any speedo cote product to anyone. I've also used the clearcoat. That buffs nice and hold a beautiful shine. ... show more

This stuff does great. I get excellent results spraying one medium coat. Tip for anyone looking at this, yes it is thick, but I reduce it 4:1:10% and it does fine in my Spectrum HVLP at around 24psi

    • Great primer for automotive painting
I am just starting out with painting my vehicles but this primer works really well. It goes on with no issues and dries with a texture. Easily sand this down to make everything smooth again before the base coat and clear coat go on. Very durable primer and I would highly recommend it.

First let me state that I am not a professional. I used this high build 2k primer to prep a replacement fender from a local junkyard. It took a attempt or two to get the settings right. I used the aeropro a610 lvlp. The settings that worked best for me was 30psi at the gun, and I used a 2.0mm spray tip. Some users recommend thining the primer. With my experimental test to find the right settings. This is not necessary for my setup. The bad: speedokote customer service is trash. They never answered any email I sent them. The only replies I got where through Amazon messages. As far as the product, and being a bigenner. I give the Speedokote 2k high build primer a 5 out of 5. ... show more

Exactly what I wanted. Lays down nice, sands easy. Do not mix more than you are going to spray and do not leave it in your gun. This stuff sets up quick, especially in the sun!
