Bought mine through Fred’s Appliances. We only had room for a stacked W/D unit in our new home, and because we had an ancient top load agitator Speed Queen washer (still runs in spite of zero maintenance having been performed in 13 years, torturing it with hard spring water, and having regularly overloaded it), I was so happy to discover they make a stacked unit. I was so certain of the brand, as soon as the salesperson mentioned Speed Queen, we abandoned the stackable LGs we had been eyeing and went straight to the checkout to order the Speed Queen in black. So, I was unaware of all the features of the unit when it arrived; thus completely overjoyed to discover the soak time feature. This is probably the most critical wash cycle option for me, and something that I have never seen on any other brand’s washing machine. I have thrown my husband’s nasty gym clothes stiff from the old dried sweat in with nasty damp cleaning towels I found left in the garage, 1/2cup of Biz (I put the Biz powder directly in the tub rather than the detergent compartment), set it for a six hour soak with hot wash water, an extra rinse, and then gone to bed and found perfectly fresh laundry ready for the dryer in the morning. Because the washer briefly agitates the laundry frequently during the soaking hours, I don’t worry about the powder no fully dissolving nor about mixing colors (though I wouldn’t recommend washing new dark clothes with your white towels!) in my wash loads; and everything comes out completely fresh and stain free. There were years we had a Kenmore front loader, and years we had an LG front loader. For odor and stain removal then, I used to have to soak clothes in a bucket or bath tub and then carry wet clothes to the washer, which served mostly as a rinsing machine in those times. Thus, I wax on and on about how much I love the Speed Queen’s soak feature. But EVERY feature and more that I have seen on any other modern front loader washer and dryer set is available on this stacked unit. We have all been completely happy all of it. Everything works as well as or better than anything we have owned or used at other homes over the years. And we know from experience that Speed Queen offers their unbeatable warranty because their product is virtually indestructible. The stacked unit is slightly pricier than comparable stackable units, but those are only comparable in capacity. Nothing will work as well and last as long as a Speed Queen! ... show more
