I'll start by saying what I'm comparing this to. I've been an Android user for my entire life and wanted to try an iPhone. For all of my previous phones I've used Spigen, which has done a fine job. They are relatively cheap and do the job. When I bought my iPhone, I wanted to see what the options were and saw Speck come up frequently. The two criteria I had was a slim case that would protect my phone the best. The feel of the case is premium. It feels great in the hand and has just a slight amount of grip, but nothing crazy. That is exactly what I was looking for. I don't want the phone to fall out of my hand accidentally and I'm not worried about it with this case. The phone fit perfectly into the case and didn't require much effort. The fit and finish are perfect. Buttons are easy to press and feel smooth. Good camera bump to protect the camera from getting scratched, but it isn't overly obnoxious. I have two gripes and that's why I knocked off a star. The first is the price, almost 3 times the price as a Spigen case which is what I compare it to. Seems like the price point is a little high, but it's fair enough. I bought it knowing that it was more expensive. I'm keeping it completely based on the fact that Speck provides drop "guarantees". I know iPhones are more fragile, so I want to protect it. I hope to never find out. The second problem is the fingerprints. If you have OCD then this might bother you. You can see all of the fingerprints from the first time you use it. Eventually all of the fingerprints sort of mesh together. The bottom half of the phone where I normally hold it is a different shade of black than the top half that I don't really touch. Just so you don't think I'm a crazy reviewer, I don't have oily hands and in fact they are extremely dry. Just be aware that on this black case, your fingerprints are going to show. ... show more

Very tight fit - you won't take it off every day, or even here and there as you want. This thing is thick too - it's almost too thick for the Apple magnetic charger. I have to place it and adjust at least twice every night - better if you don't plan on the magnetic charger. The biggest fuss, the reason I dropped a star, was the first time I dropped it, it fell on the face and flexed enough to let the Speck screen protector and chipped the edge a bit ... show more

I bought a Speck case for my last phone while out of town on travel and the existing case broke and was no longer protecting my phone. I bought the first one unplanned and it turned out to protect my last phone very well, and after a couple of years of abuse, showed little signs of wear. When I upgraded to the new iPhone, I decided to protect it with another Speck case. I love the protection provided, plus it is not flashy and easily goes unnoticed. Case is protective. Black color is an extreme fingerprint magnet. Buttons protrude out, though it may be too much for some. Buttons are easy to press. Case grippy-ness is probably about 65%. I've had Speck cases in the past that were great; durable, easy to hold. They were slip resistant because the case was made of rubber not plastic like this version.
