The case fits my new iPhone 12 pro max snuggly and seems like it would provide adequate protection. Since the phone is brand new, I’ve been extra careful so I don’t know how much protection the case will provide if I dropped my phone. The buttons are almost impossible to push. It takes multiple attempts to successfully take a screenshot. Also, since COVID-19 hit, whenever I return home, I spray the front and the back of my phone with 70-91% alcohol. I’ve been doing this for months, and it’s NEVER caused an issue with my Casemate case that I had on my old iPhone 8 Plus; that case has remained clear, shiny and smooth. I just sprayed this Speck case, and now it’s permanently cloudy and feels rough to the touch. I understand that this case is a lot less expensive than my old Casemate one, but this is ridiculous. ... show more

The case fits well. It’s definitely clear enough to show off your shiny new iPhone. However, the grips aren’t very grippy at all. I’ve been buying Speck grip cases exclusively for many years and have loved them all. The clear version did not live up to my expectations set by previous cases.

This was ordered as a backup since the original case I ordered has been delayed. I do not like this case. It might sound stupid. But the part that covers the button on the right says China on the inside and you can clearly see it. Same thing with a website.com on the sounds buttons. Just not something I want to see on my phone. Otherwise seems like a fine case. Will probably be returning it as soon as I can get something else. ... show more

I’ve had Speck case for all of my iPhones and loved it. This clear case, has no grip, the buttons have stuff written on them on/off CHINA, volume PAT... looks so cheap My biggest problem is the buttons are not easy to use. The buttons won’t work very well and I have to push so hard and fingers slip on it. Extremely disappointing.. sending right back😢 ... show more

I like the look of the case in that it allows the full look of the phone to show through. I also like that you can see the stainless steel sides in this case. However, that's a bit of the downfall of the case in my opinion. While it's nice to see the phone, there are no grippy sides to this case so it's a bit slippery in the hand. It's a very smooth case which feels nice but doesn't really give confidence to hold such a large phone. ... show more

This Speck GemShell case is only a temporary solution until Phone Rebel releases the Gen2 Crystal for the iPhone 12 Pro Max. It isn’t much different from the CandyShell case I got as my very first case for my iPhone 4S, other than it doesn’t have that bottom hinge enclosure. All in all, it’s not all that bad. I do like the integrated Microban anti-microbial technology in the case. Not all too fond of the internal text on the button offsets. It’s not as grippy as I would like, but after years of using cases on previous models that lacked that feature, I’ve come to be accustomed to it. The durability is quite strong, considering it is quite something to get the phone to go in. Very sturdy, much like that CandyShell from about a decade ago. One big thing I would say is that I would have liked if they put the Speck logo on the side of the case and not the back, as it’s a bit jarring to look at the glorious graphite back plate and see that logo (just not that aesthetically pleasing). Other than, it’s a top notch case that’ll more than fit the bill. ... show more
