I just installed this in my 2017 LEAF. A quick search on YT will bring up a handful of short videos on where the cabin air filter is located and how to swap out the filter. Let me start with this important fact: You can do this install. It is not difficult. I am the furthest thing from a mechanic, but a quick search and tutorial is all you need here. Any novice like me can handle this. You don’t have to disassemble your cars dashboard (like some insane videos suggest). If you pay someone more than filter cost + $10, you’re probably wasting money. It’s super simple once you see how it’s done and attempt it. So, fire up a video on YT and get to it. I just want to add one small piece of advice on install. The gram on this filter is thick. It does not bend well. You’ll have to force this rigid filter and your hand into a cramped space. You can do it the hard way (like I did at first) or you can do it the easy way. Here’s the easy way: take an extra minute and take off the plastic frame piece at the bottom of the glove box (many videos show this and recommend this. Do it, don’t skip it). After that, you get an easier angle to insert the filter into its housing. DON’T try to stick the filter through the glovebox. It’s almost impossible to get the right angle into the housing with this rigid filter. Other videos are showing that you can go through the glovebox because their filter bends better than this one. This filter doesn’t bend well, so save yourself the hassle. I wasted 40 minutes trying to force the filter through the glovebox. After taking off the plastic panel under the glovebox, it freed up much more room to work and I nailed it in 5 minutes. Another small note for when you get get to the step where you open the filter housing: some videos show that you release two tabs and the cap pops off. Not the case for my 2017 LEAF. This plastic cap had a deep tab I had to really reach back to get. I was looking for 0.5 inch long tabs. The single tab ended up being about 3 inches along. Once you find the tab, just apply a little force with fingers (no tools needed) and it should pop off. Filter looks nice. It’s charcoal-activated. It took a beating during my install and didn’t rip, so its constructed well. DIY this thing and save some money!

First off, the filter it just perfect. Fits great, and is an exact replacement for the OEM filter in my LEAF (at a fraction of the dealer cost) - but, and this is not a but about Installer Champ, but about the sadistic team of Nissan engineers who came up with the placement of the filter! Buried, deep behind the glove compartment, which has to be wrestled lose after removing 8, count them, eight! screws, and then you still have to yank and pull to extricate it! Next up, the filter housing is about 40% smaller than the filter itself! So you have to yoink on the tab (thankfull provided! and replicated exactly on the Installer Champ filter for next time) to squeeze the filter out of the housing. Next up, orient your replacement filter the same way, squish the ends down, and at an angle, insert one corner, then the next before concertinaing it down as you feed it in. Finally, angle the top corner (with the tab) in first, and wait for it to clear the housing. The bottom will just slip in. Re-attach the white plastic filter housing, and slam the glove compartment back in (carefully) to seat all the tabs, before adding the screws back. Wipe the sweat off your brow, and crank the aircon to 66 and enjoy the fresh breeze for a few minutes :) Total time (including watching Youtube clips :) ) was about 25 minutes.

This is a good replacement filter for a Nissan Leaf. The installation is painful due to the Nissan design, location of the cabin air filter, and small opening. The product is the right size, fit, and works well. The installation itself is easy -- it's removing the old one that's challenging. I recommend watching videos. Getting this one with a longer life span will keep my fingers from having to fight with the filter more often -- thank you Spearhead.

Yup, time to replace that air filter! By the way, you want to get this one. Impregnated with active carbon it removes all those smells that have been stewing in your vent system. Its thicker than OEM and fits like a glove.

Installed 18mo ago in our 2013 Leaf. Nissan makes the install door too small and you have to bend it to install (check youtube), but that's not the filter's fault. Happy with the filter's performance to date.
