These plates have all chipped within the 6 months of me having them. Standard use...make pasta, rinse, dishwasher, then put away. They have all chipped by simply living with the other dishes. A small clank together...chip. Take out of the dishwasher...chip. Finish eating...new chip. Seriously...we arent using these plates as frisbee's outside! They are plates and meant to be used! I have Correlle dishes that are literally older than me (30+) and they have ZERO chips in them... If you buy these, you better put them in a China cabinet and just look at them...but not too much otherwise they will chip! ... show more

Everything about these remind me of specialized for restaurant design. Each piece is quite heavy (2#). The 'bowl' in the center holds 8 oz. The rim is about 2 inches wide. I've had Cioppino in similar dishes, but not practical for my modest home.
