Description

The balance of the Holy Kingdom of Keidas is compromised when powerful, feral beings known as “Wraiths” invade from the other side of the Veil. Wraiths corrupt their victims and can even possess their bodies, turning into unstoppable, vile beings that prey upon the living. The Chimera, hybrid warriors born of the union of two souls, are the only ones who can protect humankind. Briar and Lute are two sisters who have been reborn as Chimera. The transformation has granted Briar superhuman strength and resilience, while Lute, sacrificed to bind her soul to her sister’s, has become a shade with mystical powers. Briar and Lute are sent on a mission to reclaim a city in ruins, only to discover that the Order they belong to has a more complex plan in mind. Explore a dark world brimming with hidden mysteries, master a diverse combat system, and inhabit the dual forces of two sisters in a coming-of-age fantasy story with fast-paced action, vicious enemies, and spectacular boss fights. • Stylish DMC fun!
Platform For Display: PlayStation 5
Very enjoyable pick up and play game. The opening reminded me of the start of Bayonetta! The game has wonderful presentation all round, from the environments you explore to the menus which I really like. The game is very much a love child of the gameplay of DMC combined with the anime Claymore. The game does a have a fixed camera which you can move around slightly. You do quickly get used to it. While you can tell this isn't a "AAA" game, they have made it tight and clean, with awesome designs to the characters and the world they live in. If you love DMC and Bayonetta, I would say you would love this too! ... show more

  • Great character action game
Platform For Display: PlayStation 5
For people like me who are tired of Dark Souls clones dominating action games, this gem is a nicely priced throwback to the old action games like the old God of War and Devil May Cry. Lots of combat variability and systems to play with. Only issue was the fixed camera which works some times, but can block platforming sections. I still give it top score despite that minor issue. ... show more

  • Take Devil May Cry x God of War x Souls-Esque Genre ...
Platform For Display: PlayStation 5
And you end up with Soulstice. For the best and for the worst. I completed it on the hardest available difficulty (Hard) on first playthrough. The Story is fairly decent. This game could be a Hidden Gem. I bought this at risk of the Developer & Publisher being fairly young in the Game Industry. I typically dont trust 'indie devs' in terms of delivering polished quality, or Publishers that just continuously spit out titles left and right (Maximum Games/Modus Games). Quality is always at stake with that type of business practice. However, the Developer's, Reply Game Studios, did produce an A-Budget title, with some issues that are critical and need to be patched out. I personally think these is something that shouldve been noticed in Alpha or Beta Testing stages. If they fix these, it would easily make Soulstice AA title. Story - Its decent. Its not typically common theme, but not truly unique either. Just enough to be engaging. Cultist Religion background with Avenge/Revenge Story Theme in a Medieval Fantasy World. Dialogue - Besides the main Protagonists Briar & Lute, its kinda bland with conversations. They seem flat and tone deaf, barely any emotion unless its a sequence when the Protagonists get Angry (Briar), Scared or Upset (Lute). Visuals - Its Dark, like a Devil May Cry game in one of its dark realm settings. It has a background aesthetic similar to God of War how Kratos needs to Reach Olympus at the top of the City/Mountain, but in the case for Briar & Lute they need to reach that Church at the center of the city. The visual effects, shaders and textures are pretty good. Only down side is the blue and purple tones are heavily used and can obscure your sight in combat with certain enemies using the same colors. Using Color Blind features doesnt help, it just trades hands within something else to create the same issue like with Target and attack markers at the edge of your screen. World Design - Very beautiful, very detailed. Many Areas are reused just with some clutter rearranged to feel different. Camera - This was fine at best until around Chapter 8. It uses the Fixed Position Camera like old school Devil May Cry from the PS2 era for most of the areas. Some have a free-cam, particularly in certain staged fight locations depending on the size of the arena. After Chapter 8, the camera becomes heavily cumbersome. Its positioning get worse and worse to the point of you have no depth perception of your enemies, especially if they are aerial enemies and for Platforming Puzzles and ledges. The camera starts sitting more level to Briar or occasionally below looking slightly upward. This just makes the game harder than it actually needs to be. Target locking with fixed cameras is more annoying than helpful, especially with enemies that teleport and are off screen. Combat - At first its pretty straight forward. Then if you remap the controls to be more logical, it breaks the ability to do the combos you unlock for each weapon. Dodging/Dashing is 50/50. I dont know how many times ive dodged out of an attack and then there is a 1 sec delay reaction of my character taking a hit from an enemy that is now 10 meters in the other direction. Or that certain bosses or mini bosses have a 100% chance to critical hit on specific attacks even when you are not in line of sight. Combat takes hits from the Visual Issues and Camera Issues, only to make it harder than it really should be. Bosses have a bit of a Souls-Boss challenge to them. Less so on lower difficulties. Skill Tree - Simple for Briar, unless you change your button mapping. Lute on the other hand... Took me until Chapter 21 realize how the mapping of her "Ultimate" ability works for Briar. To be honest, they felt severely under-powered, especially when trying to charge them, activate them and then use the final combo to release the final attack. You get stunned, particularly in a boss fight while charging you are screwed a bit. The game ends on a note that its possibly a Trilogy. Which is pretty cool with how things ended up turning out. Until they fix the big things that creating an unnecessary artificial difficulty wall, this game is roughly a 6.5/10 at best. I can see it a 7.5 maybe 8 after getting the necessary fixes. ... show more

  • DMC1 & DMC3 hack in slash (influenced by claymore and berserk anime)
Platform For Display: PlayStation 5
Great game for an action hack and slash. Camera gets a bit to getting used too like in DMC1. But once you keep progressing in the game you get more fun weapons and stylish combos like in DMC3. Would definitely recommend this game to any hack and slash fans. Would also recommend to anyone who is a fan of the claymore and berserk anime!! ... show more

I loved this game, I hope more people play it. For what I would consider a budget title I think they could have easily charged full price for this and I would have been satisfied with my purchase.
