I use this reel as a spare knock around reel to leave in my vehicle. Overall it is a decent little reel. It is not as smooth as the much more expensive reels. The drag is decent but the anti-reverse is not instant. For the price and initial quality it is a nice little reel. The fit and finish of this reel is not that great but for cheap Chinese products that is to be expected I guess. But where it counts, it performs pretty well. It’s smooth and functioned flawlessly. Bought it for surf and jetty fishing. It was smaller than expected (probably closer to a 4000 or maybe 5000 in other brands) but it still worked for my needs. Didn’t catch anything big at all but had no problems. Will see how it holds up from the saltwater after a cleaning. ... show more

I haven't had a chance to use it yet but I did reel it up with some 10 pound line. Seems pretty smooth and the quality for the price seems OK. Time will tell but for $16 if it lasts a few years then I'm good with that.

Feels like quality materials had good weight balance. However, one of them had a scratchy feeling when reeling and the other was missing a screw to hold in the handle So I returned both feeling that they will not last.

We got two 5000 size reels. They are surprisingly attractive and sturdy, and work well. We've used them a full season for mostly salt water pier fishing. Many reels can't handle cranking up heavy fish straight out of the water. Most give out or the gears get sloppy after a few heavy fish. These haven't given any problems after a whole summer of frequent fishing. The price was also unbelievably low compared to other reels of this class we've previously purchased. ... show more

    • Works fine, handle slightly wobbles.

It does what it is supposed to, and is quiet in smooth. The thing I do not like is the joints on the handle allow for movement, which allows the handle to wobble when using. It gives it a cheap feel. It does work however, and hasn't fallen apart, so it is still a good value.
