This 50 mm prime lens made by Sony is by far the sharpest lens I’ve ever used and that includes my Leica rangefinder lenses I owned a few years ago. It has been more than 10 years since I’ve owned an auto focus 50 mm 1.4 prime. I had forgotten how much faster and more responsive an af system is when using a fast prime. Fantastic image quality on Sony A7III and Sony A7R3. Quite fast, auto focus. Aperture ring works great and you can lock it if you don’t want to use it and control Aperture from camera body. Two custom buttons for easy access in portrait or landscape orientation can be programmed for many features. Manual or autofocus switch is also very convenient. You can rely on the 50mm focal length to provide a decent amount of compression and the F1.4 Aperture provides nice smooth bokeh with a shallow depth of field. ... show more

Not the f/1.2, but still a GM. Do I miss the 1/3 stop of light, nope. It’s lighter, cheaper, and in all practicality, just as sharp edge to edge. This completes my prime lens lineup (24mm GM, 35mm GM, 50mm GM, 90mm Macro G).
