  • Crop sensor, compact mirrorless. It’s a Sony, what more can you ask.
Style: Camera Only Set: Base
Love it. I bought another one when my first one got damaged recently, even though it’s a few years old as of 2024, lightweight and pretty small but packs a punch. Easy to learn the functions and buttons. It’s not full frame, of course, but doesn’t have that FF price tag either. Highly recommend for a first time camera. Good for experienced too. ... show more

  • Great camera with great features for a good price.
Style: Camera Only Set: Base
I like that this line of mirrorless cameras is lightweight and is relatively compact compared to a digital DLR. As with many of the newer digital cameras the 6400 shoots beautiful video and I am especially happy with it having a stereo mini input that would allow use of high end microphones. The camera is light years ahead of the bulky cameras I used to use on commercial field shoots. Aspiring videographers don't know how lucky they are to have tools like this at their disposal at such a low cost. Not only is the video stellar, the stills are too. I love the continuous shooting mode when shooting wildlife. Sony has a great lineup of lenses to pair with the camera and other lens manufacturers are developing lenses for the Sony E Mount cameras as well. ... show more

  • Love it!
Style: w/16-50mm Lens Set: Base
I had DSLRs for decades and enjoyed them. But I don't travel as much and needed a smaller easy ro carry camera. Tried ZV e10 and it's nice but I missed the viewfinder especially on bright sunny days. Did some more research and got this one. Only been a day but love it already! Easy auto settings with more than enough custom settings. Great quality. The LCD screen will get a bit getting used to but everything else is great fun. Looking forward to testing it in different settings. ... show more

  • Back to business!
Style: w/16-50mm Lens Set: Base
Just awesome! This camera is just what I was hopping it will be. It is the replacement for my old A77 with no functioning lcd and my outdated but still functionals a580 and a850 fullframe. I also got the e mount adapter to work with my A mount lens collection from my Minolta times. All works great 👍🏼 . Even my old flash mount adapter workrd! I tested my HVL-F56AM and HVL-58AM flash units and both works great with the new a6400. The camera came in very good condition and well protected. It also came with the firmware updated version 2.0 A great product and great price. If you have an old lens collection and Minolta adapters this will be your best and affordable choice to go with. You will not be disappointed... Now, to have fun with it. ... show more

  • Great travel camera
Style: w/16-50mm Lens Set: Base
I was looking for a travel camera for those times when I don’t want to lug around my full frame camera and the related gear. I don’t really do much video but it is nice having 4K video when I want it. For photography, this little APS-c camera can take some great photos. Pros: 1. Light weight and small, easy to travel and walk around with. 2 has a viewfinder ( I found many this size did not). 3. Has TTL and HSS (I often shoot with strobes and speedlites) 4. Auto eye tracking is pretty good. 5. Menu and button layout isn’t as bad as some have claimed (my other cameras are Canon and it is different) 6. Has some amount of weather protection (most cameras this size did not). Cons: 1. Battery life isn’t great (luckily batteries are small and lightweight). 2. Price…the A6400 is at least 3 models removed from the newest A series, but still in the $900’s. There are numerous other brands in the same category that are in the $550-$750 range. 3. The flip up (not out) screen is weird and takes a while to ge used to. I don’t use it much as I use the viewfinder mostly, but can see where some folks would have. A problem with it as when it is up it is directly behind the hot shoe. 4. Not great at high ISOs. From what I have seen so far, ISO 1200 is acceptable but above that it gets pretty grainy. Overall. Great little camera for the size. It was the best choice for me as it had the majority of the capabilities I was looking for in a Small travel interchangeable lens travel camera. ... show more

  • Best value for the money
Style: w/16-50mm Lens Set: Base
I bought this camera as a second body to my A7iii(upgrading to the A7iv) for b-rolls and as a carry-around camera for travel and hiking. I’m very satisfied with the quality of pictures that come out of it. As someone whose first camera was a full-frame, it took me awhile to get adjusted to the crop sensor images. But if you understand how to use 1.5 crop factor, it’s easy to achieve an equivalent full frame look with a lens that is 1.5 times wider. Having said this, sometimes, at a glance, I can’t tell which pictures I snapped with the A7iii or the A6400. This is a great entry level camera if you want to pursue photography as a hobby or if you have a more expensive camera that you don’t want to carry around to minimize your risks and liabilities for lower budget projects. ... show more
