  • Legendary Camera & System
Set: New Version - a7R III
I have 2 of these bodies and they are used in a number of commercial photography settings. A lot of the work is architectural/design and the sharpness and 14 stop latitude is almost unsurpassed. The price is good, meaning that any equipment expense must be recoverable and produce profit. Switching from Canon to Sony was clearly a big move, but very carefully thought out. I am so glad I switched. The quality of the a7Riii images are astonishing. With menu's that seem to go on forever, there is a lot to learn with this camera, but there are good video tutorials online. I highly suggest using them. The top of the line Sony and Carl Zeiss E mount lenses are world class. ... show more

  • The swiss army knife of cameras
Set: Base
If you want a professional grade camera that can do a little bit of everything and won't completely cripple you financially this is probably the best one to get. Seriously this thing is amazing! It's good in low light and could be used for astrophotography, although it probably won't be as good for that as a camera that is specifically made for that sort of thing. 10 fps shooting is also plenty for wildlife and sports. The autofocus isn't as good as some of the competitors but it's adequate enough. Combine that with the high megapixel sensor and you also have a camera that is good for landscapes. The in body stabilization is insane! I adapted a Samyang 14mm 2.8 to this camera, which is a manual focus lens with no stabilization or autofocus, and even at 1/4 shutter speed I was able to get a sharp image. Bonkers! And if you're feeling frisky and decide you feel like becoming a film maker for a day or 2 you can record 4k video. Unfortunately you can't record 4k at 60fps but that's not a big deal for people who only record video occasionally. I also like the dual card slots which a lot of other cameras in this price range don't have. The only things I don't like are the grip and the weight of this thing. The feel of the grip itself isn't terrible. My hands fit around it well enough and I don't feel like it will slip out of them. And I don't mind that my pinky doesn't fit on the grip because I just tuck it under the bottom of the camera and use it for better leverage and stabiliztion when hand holding. I just don't like how close my fingers are to the lens. If you have a chunky lens on this thing and equally chunky fingers they will most likely rub against each other occasionally which can be uncomfortable. Luckily I haven't had many issues with this when out the field and actually taking photos. I have a love hate relationship with the weight. I like how solid the camera feels. It's like holding a bomb shelter in your hands. I would not feel as scared about dropping this as I would with some other cameras. And I generally like this with most items. But when you add a lense that is also heavy it can be a bit cumbersome. I'm not looking forward to having this thing hanging off my neck. Seriously considering getting a shoulder strap just for this camera. Might be time to upgrade my tripod as well. Other than that excellent camera! ... show more

Shot my first Milky Way photos with this camera two weeks ago. It far exceeded my expectations for low light stars images. Shot a few landscapes as well, and the results were great!

  • Excellent camera. See no reason to upgrade to the Sony A7R IV
Set: Base
Not a fan of expensive electronics being dropped at my door. So I think I purchased this from a retail store, as an upgrade to my already good Sony A7ii. The A7ii had one flaw. It didn't hold onto action targets as well as I'd like. This Sony A7Riii does it much better. I've have it for about a year now, I guess! It never has let me down. Best features-BATTERY, yes! One battery with the A7Riii, last all day. With the A7ii, I'd need at least 3 batteries for a day's worth of shooting. The 42 megapixels, offer much sharper detail. The menu is the same, so I didn't have to learn anything new. The video (not my forte), is excellent on the rare occasions that I need it. Last of all, it is lightweight, compared to a DSLR. All of my accessories for it, have come from Amazon, such as lens protectors. ... show more
