  • Spectrum of 6 different colors
  • Great for Science experiments
  • Works best applied over a black background
  • Best when applied with a brush- but leaves brush marks

Description

SCD Liquid Crystal is the raw material found in mood rings and LCD screens. The material changes multiple colors based on reaction to heat. For best results the ink must be applied over a black background, otherwise the color will not change as well. Spectrum of 6 different colors that react to heat and cold- Black, Brown, Red, Green, Blue & Purple. Protect with Art Resin or Model Master's clear gloss enamel. Single 1/2oz (10 gram) jar. Pure Form is a thicker version that works best when painted on by a brush- but will leave brush strokes. Not shipping now due to cold.

  • Tricky, but worth it...
If you're using this for your nails these are my recommendations... Use thin coats over a black base, don't take it all the way to the edge. It has to be *completely* sealed in, if it gets wet it's going to peel off. However, if you put too much clear gel polish (I really don't recommend regular nail polish) it won't change color properly. You can use a blow dryer to speed up the drying process. Do one nail first to determine how many coats to use. I use base coat, two coats of black, base coat again, four thin coats of color change liquid, a thin coat of builder gel, one coat of top coat. Cure between each gel coat. Soak your tester nail in cold water to watch it change, and to test the seal. 100% worth the effort!!! I wish the jar was bigger, and it wasn't so expensive, but I'm probably going to buy it again. ... show more

  • Seems to only change between black and green
Having trouble with this product and not sure if it's me or not. I'll keep trying but so far it's been hard to get consistent coating that changes more than just black to green.

  • Love it!
Crazy about this stuff! So far only painted bobby pins (top coated with clear nail polish). Used 2 thin coats but color changing effect with 1 coat. Should have bought larger size. Looking forward to using on other projects. Product arrived quickly and was sealed tight - no issues. They have other products I wish I could try. This was a long awaited splurge. ... show more

  • Too Little Product, Too Much Money
Much smaller than I realized. Very disappointed with the amount for the price. I tried to make it last by only adding a little to a 1” cast figure, and you can’t even tell I used any. You’d have to use a lot and for the price, it’s not worth it.

  • This one is a NO.
Thought this was an amazing deal considering how much this type of thing sells for when marketing for nail art (1g for $20 vs 10g for $40?! Score!!!) but, unfortunately.... There is a reason why. This isn't the same material used in mood rings (and apparently those nail art ones cause I had amazing results with those) this one only reacts to extreme temperatures, like when dipped in ice water or blasted with a heat gun. Body heat has no effect, it's permanently a dark blue/purple shade. Tried it on black resin base, black acrylic paint base, black gel nail polish base; tried it thin with multiple layers, thick with 1 layer, thick with multiple layers.. No luck, and that's probably why no returns, either. That's what i get for trying to save money :( just buy the tiny nail art bottles, sucks they are so expensive but at least they work. ... show more
