SoHo Acrylics provide excellent coverage, peak to maintain brush strokes and are saturated with pigment to provide a wide range of tints from all 52 colors in the range. When dry, colors form a permanent film resistant to water, dirt, and atmospheric pollution. They will dry to a lustrous finish on virtually any surface. Color Swatches are as follows: Left - Pure color straight from the tube. Center - Color mixed with 50% Glazing medium. Right - Color mixed with 50% Titanium White.

Well I haven’t had a chance to try them yet. They arrived a day early in great condition. The tubes are small but perfect since I’m just testing to see if I do like them. Will update once I’ve had a chance to try. Edit Ok I’m very much a novice I wanted to switch because I simply wasn’t liking the results I was getting with the basics. I love this paint. Once again I don’t know anything about paints but this dries a little slower than the basics and be careful with water. As I started moving onto larger pieces, I was going through my preferred Winsor & Newton Professional way too fast. I’d go through a 250ml tube in just a couple pieces, and it was costing too much. I tried these (now have about a couple dozen different colors in this line). Not the best quality, especially considering I’d call these ‘student grade’. And Hues are never as rich as pure pigments. But at this price, especially for a large piece with bold, heavy colors, these have been a godsend. They are highly glossy finish, but that’s easy to fix with a sealer. I’ve learned to wait 4-6 weeks (at least) before sealing these. All in all, I’m going to continue purchasing and continue using. I can’t give 5 stars because they aren’t ‘professional’ quality. But they fit a niche perfectly! I’d highly recommend giving them a try. [I didn’t like them for the first few weeks. It took some time for me to appreciate them. This review was written about 2-3 months after I started using them.] ... show more

Size: 75 ml Tube Color: Dioxazine Violet Hue
This is not heavy body paint, it's medium bodied. it's also highly glossy, which I dislike. Glossy paint blinds the viewer. How can they see your painting if the light bouncing off is blinding them? It's distracting. Soho has no light fast rating and no pigment is listed on the tubes. If you are just practicing or playing around then this is OK, but what if you accidentally create a masterpiece, wouldn't you like your paint to be trustworthy? I'm going to stick with Grumbacher and M. Graham, semi-gloss and high quality. ... show more

Size: 250 ml Tube Color: Burnt Sienna
Good thick quality paint. Rich deep colors. This Violet is so dark out of the bottle it is almost black. Then you add water and it blooms this amazing intense purple. When it's tacky dry you can scrape it off instead of peel it off (which is common for most acrylic I'm familiar with, including grumbacher premium acrylic). Some reviews complained about the glossy finish, but I saw none of that. It was a pleasure to work with. Update : there is a little glare in the wrong light after it dries a bit, but not more than I've seen in other paints, including liquatex and grumbacher. I recommend going over the painting with a thin layer of matte glaze once the painting is dry. ... show more

Great paint. Heavy body, goes on smooth, is good and dark. But.... BEWARE! This is glossy! They don’t really mention that in the description. It’s a very deep, dark black, but very reflective.

    • Not Bad For Practice But Not For The Professional Artist

I purchased these because they were listed as being " a heavy body paint" and not having used acrylics in over 20 plus years for a painting I thought I'd give them a try. They are pretty true to color but they aren't opaque, as a matter of fact I had to go over the same color several times to even achieve the look I wanted but then I noticed they turned " muddy" and ruined my attempts at the look I was going for. Now that I've used them, I realize they're more for beginner's or practice than for a finished piece and I wouldn't buy them again (I don't practice all of my work is going to be a finished piece of art). ... show more

I'm very happy with this set of basic colors. I wasn't sure I would like it, as it's less expensive than some other heavy body paints I looked at. I thought it might be cheap quality. But this has really worked well for me. I work with gelli prints and stencils, and find that the heavier body paints work better with stencils. I would buy this again, but I've still got a lot left, so it may be awhile. ... show more

I honestly haven’t used this paint yet. But I’ve used the acrylics so I’m sure I’ll like them. One thing I found odd and someone correct me if I’m wrong but the tubes don’t say heavy body anywhere. The box didn’t either. It looked like the regular acrylic paint unless all acrylics are heavy body.
