These shoes were even better than I expected! They do have a kind of flat appearance as far as material goes, I know some of the previous reviewers mentioned they were expecting a sort of imitation suede, but that is not the case. I am not sure exactly what the material is, but if you are looking at the matte black style, it is essentially just a matte fabric. However, that does not take away from the appearance at all; a close up is attached for reference. They are a perfect neutral shoe to pair with jeans, dresses, etc. I will warn any potential buyers that this is a relatively high heel, and while the platform does take away from that some, just from the short time I've worn them thus far it can put some uncomfortable pressure. I have trouble with heels kind of hurting my toes more than anything, it just makes the bones feel weird, and these heels do feel like they may cause that. If you do have any problems wearing heels, you may want to consider that. I personally do not feel bothered enough for it to deter me, so provided you feel the same I would highly recommend! **Update** Okay so I have been wearing these for a few weeks now, and I definitely do recommend. After a long day (12+) hrs in them sometimes I will have some achiness in the soles of my feet, but that is to be expected in my opinion. They are super easy to walk in, though they are pretty slick in the rain so be careful with that. But overall, they are effortless to wear, comfortable, and super easy to style as well. ... show more

    • Good but needed better insoles
I bought these shoes because they were less than $13 at the time. They are very cute and appear well made. The only issue for me, which was kind of major, was that the insoles are essentially a sticker placed over the nails and screws that hold the shoes together. Wearing these shoes for 1 hour caused 3 days of major pain in my right foot. However, spending another $8 on some Dr Scholls insoles has made them totally perfect. I would just recommend that if you are prone to foot, leg or back pain, you buy these along with a good pair of insoles, and you will love them. ... show more
