  • BEWARE Read: Amazon has mislabeled bumpers as of 9/22
What can I say. Smittybilt builds quality stuff! The fit and finish is excellent. Long story short, great company, good support, and get the standard texture, not the lite texture version. I bought the matching rear bumper, and it came in the standard texture. But this one arrived in the lite texture. Which looks sharp, but I read that the standard texture was more durable, which is why I ordered it. Well, it gave me a good opportunity to evaluate both textures. And, I would agree with what I read. It definitely appears more durable. The lite looks nice, and matches the OEM plastic texture closer, but I think it would not wear as well. Amazon was great (@160lbs) about returning this one at no charge, but the replacement came the lite texture finish too lol smh! After some time on the phone with Smittybilt support, (who were excellent), it was determined that there was a mistake at the factory, and the boxes amazon had were mislabled, not only did I get a lite texture version, but it was for a JL not a JK. They made it right though, and got me the right one in no time! The one thing I would mention, is that the plastic pads on the bumper, are not solid. As in they they look solid, but they are a hollow honeycomb on the back. Time will tell how well they will hold up to abuse. Overall it took a while to get both bumpers, but the end result looks great, and will surely ward of the rocks :) ... show more

  • Very stout bumper
Bumper arrived well packaged and in good condition. This is a very rugged bumper and the finish is very good. Installation was pretty straight forward. Only issue I had was I installed with a Warn EVO 10K winch and once installed, I could not connect the wiring back up to the fog lights. I managed to get the drivers side plugged back in, but there was not enough clearance between the winch and the passenger side fog light to get the plug back in. Not sure if this is an issue with other winches or not. But, there is very little room to get your hand in there to plug it back in regardless of which winch you use. Looks to me that if you are using a Warn Evo, you would have to maybe cut the wires to the plug, plug it into the fog light prior to installing the winch, then splice the wires after the bumper is installed. Even then, I am not sure that there is enough clearance between the winch and the light for the plug. Do yourself a favor, check it first. I gave up with the fog lights. It would have required me to take the bumper and winch back off and I never found the factory fog lights to be that useful anyway. ... show more

  • Great bumper!
A very well thought out design. It incorporates a lot of great features, like the wind dam, the hooks and the guard. Another great feature is that the winch is mounted very low and almost on level with the frame. Very ideal. The look is fantastic and the install was very easy. The directions are complete crap but it’s a bumper. Very solid but not so big that it is difficult to move around. ... show more

  • Don't settle for cheap knock offs, they don't have all the features this one has.
Coolest bumper I have ever seen. Every time I walk by my jeep I stop and stare. The versatility is perfect. So many options for mounting lights and other toys. Spots to attach a high lift when in a pinch. It keeps the winch secure and safe and protected instead of out in the open like other winch bumpers. I am glad I spent the extra and went with this bumper instead of some of the others I was looking at. One small blemish on one corner probably from the guys delivering it and dragging it across the driveway. It is heavy. ... show more

  • Great product, horrible instructions and delivery.
Smittybilt is one of the most discussed aftermarket mods in the industry. Here's how I see it. The XRC Gen 2 Front Bumper is rock solid and aesthetically pleasing. I saw a few on the road before I purchased and thought "that's what I want". Now that I have the front (and rear bumper) installed, I think they look awesome. The crazy thing is a) The instructions look like a bad, photocopy of some 80s era microfiche and are vague at best; b) there are few quality install videos online; and c) some of the install can be insanely hard. Now, the XRC Gen 2 Front Bumper was very straightforward for me... in fact, it was harder to get the factory bumper off then to do the install of the XRC. The Rear Bumper was another story. Also, the shipping of these bumpers is another common complaint. My front bumper was delivered in a beat up cardboard box (I didn't take pictures of it, but it had holes and a deformed shape). Inside the box, the bumper appeared to be solidly packaged and well protected, but.. as I got it out and installed, there were a few bumps and rubs that were noticeable. Others have had the same complaint. All in All, I think the product is great... if Smittybilt would step up the installation instructions and videos... and would work with their delivery partners to take a little more care, I could see them dominating the industry... instead... it's hit and miss with them. Now that I'm done with the install... have shed some blood, sweat and a few choice words... I love the product... but man, not sure I would want to go through the install again. ... show more

  • Love it!
This is a heavy duty bumper! I mounted my winch to it prior to installing it on my Jeep. Installation was easy but you will need some help lifting it up to put it in place. I was by myself so I used the loader on my tractor to help. Looks great!

  • Bought for flat towing
I bought the because I am flat towing my Jeep. I think it was harder to unpack that it was to install. It is heavy so you may need help but I was able to do it by myself. Took about 1.5 hrs to remove the stock bumper and bolt this one on and the factory fog slight fit right in. I called Smittybilt to find out if I needed the 1” or 7/8” pin for the tow bar. They told me it had a 1” hole. It is NOT. You will need the 7/8” shackle pin or you will have to open it up like I did. Overall a great bumper. ... show more
