I purchased this kids' smartwatch with high hopes, but unfortunately, it has left me a bit disappointed. On the positive side, the design is cute, and my child loves the bright colors and the ease of wearing it. The watch's basic functions, like the time display and simple games, seem to engage them well. The build quality feels sturdy, which is a relief given how rough kids can be on their belongings. However, there are a few drawbacks. The battery life is a little shorter than advertised, often needing a recharge within a days with standard use. The app connectivity is also limited; it leaves the end user wishing it had better integration with the popular handset operating systems. While the watch has potential, these issues make it less enjoyable than I had hoped. It’s decent for the price, but I would recommend looking into other options if you’re after something more reliable and user-friendly.

I selected this specifically because I was looking for something that would function as a watch and step-counter for a child without the "screen time" or distraction problem so many of these devices have - games and distractions that make them impossible for a child to functionally wear places like school (not that a step-counter is not a distraction but in comparison to a watch loaded with stupid games, it's quite minor). You will need to pair with a smartphone to have the date/time, and it looks like there are message and call forwarding capabilities as well as the ability to play music from your phone through the watch. Also alarms, camera, "sedentary reminder", and "rise to wake" (as well as female menstrual cycle tracking if you need that). But it looks like if you are in fact giving this to a child you simply do not enable those functions. There is a sleep monitor, pedometer, stopwatch and timer, and sport modes that look like they function independently of the smartphone, which is what a kid will want and use it for. The instructions state that you need to pair the watch with the app to set it up and once you do that there's no need to keep it connected to the phone to function; it will still track real-time heartrate, steps, distance, pace, exercise duration, and calories burned without the phone. Overall the focus is on fitness which is better to encourage activity rather than screen time, and there are activity "modes" you can select from. I like the fact it will do the exercise functions without a phone which means it can be gifted to a kid without one and still function as an "adult" like watch without the hassle of distracting games. The instructions seem comprehensive and this seems like a pretty basic device so I am hopeful it will be well-received as a gift. When I know how well it works I will come back and see if it gets that extra star.

This is a very simple smart watch to use for kids. In fact, as an adult I wish it was my smart watch, as it is more user friendly than mine. To connect it to a smart phone you need to download an app called "H Band". After that it connects through bluetooth very easily. You an create an account or use as a guest. Charges easily with a magnetic USB cable. Great gift idea and very happy with it.
