it's alright. it's not particularly crazy or profound, but it works and I'm pleased with it. it did take me some time to figure out how to set it up. aside from that struggle, everything else went fine.

    • Good Budget Priced Slow Masticating Juicer. Versatile. Easy to use and clean up.
I have always liked the idea of having a juicer. But the juicers I had in the past, in the dark ages of home appliance design, were shred and centrifuge types that left clogged screens to clean out a mess to clean up. So I was happy to try the HACE Slow Masticating Juicer with its promise of both juice extraction and pulp ejection into separate easier to clean up containers. The HACE Slow Masticating Juicer seems so similar to about a dozen other juicers, that all seem to differ only in the styling of the base, that I suspect it's another example of what at first seems to be competing products that are all really from the same factory with a blizzard of different "brand" names that flood the search zone with "choices" that are all pretty much the same guts and product from the same source company. That said, it's a pretty good juicer, no matter what brand name is on it or style choice has been made. I had great luck with "soft" source fruits like oranges, limes and lemons. I tried some blueberries just to see and it worked very well. I did not try "hard" items like apples and I don't do veg juices. But the system worked well, did not vibrate too much (my old juicer would take off "walking" across the countertop) and, as advertised, it was relatively easy to clean up. Having the pulp ejected out the end into a separate collection container was a huge plus. The extraction assembly is easy to put together and easy to take apart and clean. There are more expensive juicers, of this type design, and there are somewhat more powerful ones. But the price sweet spot for this type of juicer seems to be about $80-$120 on Amazon and for a device like this it's well worth it. ... show more

I’ve been trying to get more fruit in my diet, but I don’t like excess sugar so I avoid most fruit drinks. That’s why I thought getting a juicer would be a good idea. I know what's going in and what's coming out. I don’t know a lot about juicers, in general. I just know that this one does a good job and does so at a very reasonable price, especially when it is on sale. It seems pretty efficient and does a nice job with various types of fruits (I don't really drink vegetable juices). It’s pretty heavy and bulky, however. And, cleaning up is a bit of a process. So, if you don't see yourself using it much or don't have a lot of space, this could be an issue. ... show more

This juicer/masticator is rugged, substantial, and well made. It works well and does everything it is advertised to do. The parts come apart easily and neatly and are easy to clean. We use it almost exclusively to make fresh orange juice. It makes excellent pulp-free orange juice. However, preparation is somewhat more time consuming than with a traditional motorized juicer. This machine requires that that you peal the oranges and then cut or separate the segments. That is more work than just cutting an orange into two halves and pressing those halves onto a rotating ribbed drum. We were hoping that this machine would extract more juice than the traditional juicer and that seems to be the case. With the juicer/masticator it takes 3.5 oranges to make 3 small glasses of fresh orange juice while it takes us 4.5 oranges to make 3 small glasses of orange juice with the conventional juicer. The one downside of this machine is that it is a bulky, heavy, specialized item to store and there are lots of parts to clean. It may not seem worth it if it is an infrequently used appliance. Bottom line. If you will juice lots of fruits or lots if different things frequently, this is a great machine. If you only use it infrequently it may take up more space and be more cumbersome to maintain than seems worth it. ... show more
