Lays flat enough to wear under your outer layer for security. The quick release part of the strap came undone when I was sitting once, but I will put a safety pin there to make it more secure. In New Mexico, keeping hydrated is essential. So, when I hike I always carry water. My canteen finally died so I needed something that I could carry a bottle of water inside. I like keeping both hands free to either use walking sticks or for balance. This bag is comfortable to wear and it can carry a 24 oz bottle of water without difficulty. I can also keep lip balm, my wallet, phone, and car key in the pockets. The zippers work great. There are five pockets so you can actually carry quite a bit. A great bonus feature -- there is a reflective fabric strap across the shoulder step where you can allegedly hang sunglasses. I knocked them off of that right away. But, near the top, there is a rubberized grommet meant to allow you to run wired headphones to your phone inside the bag. I found I can quite securely slide in the stem of a pair of sunglasses or reading glasses all the way into this grommet and safely carry them with me. They will not get easily knocked off or fall off when you bend over. I expect this will be great for our next European trip. There, I would keep the bag on my chest so that it woud be hard for a thief to access or steal. I will be able to carry everything I need for the day while walking around a city or the countryside. One other nice feature for safe travel -- you can easily slide the strap off the top of the backpack. That means you can wear a jacket or coat over the backpack and then reach inside to release the strap to easily get to all the pockets or to present the bag for inspection or x-ray without having to take off your jacket or coat. ... show more

Due to a bad neck, I am always looking for a better way to carry my handbag items. Even cross body bags can give me chronic neck pain, so when sling bags began to make an appearance I decided to try one. This one has an attractive appearance & many zipper pockets. I began by trying to fit the contents of my existing cross body bag into this sling. Well, it doesn't quite work that way. The pockets have varying depths & not everything fits. I definitely need to downsize. One of my problems is that after I pack my essentials I have to find room for my husband's iPhone, glasses in the case, & hand sanitizer. When I was done there was no room for my sunglasses case & the bag was bulging. I definitely need to lighten my load, which is probably a good idea all around. I did try sliding my iPhone 8 into a little velcro closing pocket. It fit, but the velcro didn't catch & my phone fell out. Fortunately, it fell onto the car floorboard at my feet. Not an insurmountable problem. There is a band on the strap that I am not sure how to use. Umm I will keep adjusting until I meet a happy medium. I got this crossbody backpack for day trips down into the New York City. I've used it a couple of times now, and am pleased to report that I'm happy with this purchase. Here's why I say that: Pros ----- * Good size. This crossbody backpack is fairly thin, but still has room for a bottle of water, my smartphone, a small notepad and pencil, a small map, keys, and a few other items. It is not large enough to hold an A5 notebook or an 8" tablet, though. I checked. * Comfortable. The shoulder strap has light padding in it, and the crossbody backpack hangs comfortably over my chest or back for hours at a time. * Long, adjustable length strap. I'm a big guy, and this bag still fits me comfortably. It's adjustable, so it should work well for most people. * Gray cloth is a bit shiny, with a slight metallic sheen to it. I like this. * Attractive. I like the way this bag looks. Cons ----- * Zippers feel pretty flimsy, and most of them weren't lined up right when the bag arrived. This was easy enough to fix, though, and they've worked perfectly since then. ... show more

I ordered this CAISANG Sling Bag Crossbody Backpack Shoulder Hiking Daypack for Men Anti-Thief Chest Personal Pocket Outdoor Travel Bag to take on walks or bicycle rides. It's smaller than I hoped that it would be and very lightweight. The padded shoulder strap is nice as it takes some pressure off from the weight of what is in the bag. It's pretty true to the advertised size but the zippers seem a little cheap as mine were off track when I received it. The seams are sewn well but the fabric is thin but it has a backing on it so I believe it will last. If you're planning on putting a lot in this don't order it. This is big enough for the few things that I carry on walks and rides, a phone, some personal protection and my ID. ... show more
