  • Edit: Fixed - Fans aren't strong enough/CPU Overheating/Under powered Power Supply
Style: 3600 | 2070
I needed a computer more powerful than my laptop without having to spend loads more money. So I had to pick a desktop for that option. It totally surpasses all my expectations when editing, working, multi-tasking, etc. I would have given this PC 5 stars if that were it. However, here comes all my negatives. This PC came with a flawed keyboard and I have sent SkyTech 3 emails and I haven't gotten a solution and only one response (will be almost 3 weeks since I got this computer). I had luckily a Bluetooth keyboard but it's not good. So there goes a terrible review for customer service. Now for the rest. I have always been a console gamer but I was eager to try PC out. Turns out. It worked amazingly. I was able to get 120 fps ultra settings in Gears 5 with my 1080p 144hz monitor. However, after one or two hours of trying it out. It started to lag badly. I turned it off and slept thinking about it. I was curious about the cooling system in this and it turns out, after downloading Core Temp, this computer was hitting over 90 Celsius (recommended for AMD Ryzen CPU's not to surpass 85)! NO WONDER! I was completely destroying my CPU without knowing it!! I then downloaded Argus Monitor to manually set the fan speeds to 100% and it still was going up 90 Celsius! As any human being, I obviously tuned down the settings and where it works best without over heating and getting 83 Celsius was Medium Settings with 90 frames per second. This whole entire process of learning PC gaming took a very big tole on my CPU, hopefully I didn't do any permanent damage. So now I just bought a Noctua NH-U12A CPU fan (extra $100 I had to spend on top of everything else) hopefully this solves it. Just be careful! This PC does give out substantial numbers but the cooling system is totally unreliable. My verdict. I still haven't received an email or a new keyboard from them so that I can properly use this PC. Secondly, don't be fooled by the cooling system. RGB colors look cool but the CPU fan isn't reliable enough to play at you max computer capabilities). I average 55 Celsius with just browsing the web. Will give an update if I ever do get a response regarding the keyboard and/or the new cpu fan. Verdict: 2 Stars EDIT: After contacting customer support and further investigating. Nvidia asks as minimum for the RTX 2070 for you to have 550w of power supply. This one has 500w. So upgrading my fan wasn't an option unless I also bought a power supply. Very mad at the situation, and not receiving any emails back. I decided to get in contact with chat. After hours of waiting and further research, my Stars would go up to 4 but I will cut this PC some slack. Verdict: Even though the Power Supply is under powered on paper, as stock, this PC without adding anything (maybe RAM would still be fine) works great. My CPU problem: Customer Service told me to download CPUID HWMonitor. Which monitors your temperatures. The problem with the high CPU temp is that it one of my cores called TMPIN7 is like an outlier to the rest of my cores. That Core is around 10-20 C higher than the rest of them. Customer Service that that is pretty normal to have a funny core to the CPU and looking online, it looks like most computers have a funny outlier core that works differently. Having said that, my cores average 50C while gaming Ultra Settings 120fps on Gears 5 perfectly. Now, make to turn OFF VSync on Gears because for some reason, after 90fps, the game lags and does not look smooth. The only thing that doesn't work 100% is if I want to put "unlimited" FPS, my game sort of lags when Frame rate hits 130's. I don't really care as much but it is still strange. Anyway, all of this could have been solved if I would have known the CPUIDHWMonitor. Perfect PC for Value. Lastly, if you ever download games, for some reason my RAM capacity would go very high to where I had been to 99% RAM usage while editing on Premiere Pro and I didn't have any game playing. The solution is to go to Task Manager, then right click and End Task to the applications that you don't want running in the background. I had thought that I needed to buy more RAM. CPU Heating problem: fixed FPS on Gears 5: (120fps) Fixed RAM Capacity Usage: Fixed Power Supply: Not Fixed but Fixed because I am not running into problems (yet). ... show more

  • System builder in need of box of parts
Style: 5600X | 3070
So confession time. When I purchased this PC, I had no intention of using it as it came. Due to the lack of availability of graphics components, it had come down to getting the box of parts that had the most parts I was going to actually use. So I was looking for a Ryzen 5600x, a RTX 3070, at least 16gb of ram and a tb SSD. Anything else usable was a bonus. And while I did get the parts I was looking for, I do have to comment that I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the build and attention to detail. Aside from a few sticking points that I will get to. So first things first. If you have been looking at this system, I'm sure you know there's not a lot info regarding what kind of parts you're actually getting. In my system, some of the components, GPU: Gigabyte RTX Vision 8gb (white version) SSD: WD Blue 1 tb gen3 m.2 Mobo: ASRock itx b550 wifi Mem: xfx 3600mhz (no rgb) Fans: 4 InWin Jupiter and includes controller So a lot of really solid components, and for taking a gamble on ordering I'm very happy with what I was able to get out of it. Cable management was surprisingly tight and well done. Most of what could be done behind the mobo tray was, although the fan controller was left on the front which would not be my preference. The system was shipped in good condition, included padding inside the system to protect the components which I really appreciated. My biggest issues with the system as shipped. The case is not the greatest thing ever. This may be personal preference, but I hate the shroud at the top of the case. If for no other reason that it's easier to reach the GPU for power from the bottom. Airflow is just ok, I'm not a fan (ha) of having thr intake come from the side instead of the front. There's no room to breath from the front panel, and the top of the system is blocked off by the power supply shroud, so the only real exhaust you get is from the one fan in the back. Speaking of fans, the system just comes with the AMD stock cooler. It runs fine, but for the price you should really be able to expect an AIO. The biggest issue I had with the stock system is the power supply. It comes with a 650 watt non 80plus, non modular pos. Basically garbage that I'm probably not going to be able to reuse anywhere else. So honestly, if I was buying this off the rack to use as is, I would like be pretty happy. Order took about a week to show up. Testing it out, it ran fast out of the box, most of the software setup was done already and I was gaming within a few minutes of having it plugged in. There was minimal bloatware, some desktop links to support, but that was about it. RGB software was pre-installed and ready to go at start up. Overall, I'm happy with what I got out of this system even if it was more a box of components than anything else. Taking a chance that those parts would be good quality worked out for me.. Everything is working great in their new box, and I'm looking to part out the rest (anyone looking for an itx ASRock b550?). I hope this review helps anyone else looking to go SI for their new build, the world is tough for builders right now. ... show more
