  • OK for Beginners
Size: 1/10 Color: pink
When I received this violin, I noticed immediately the aesthetic quality was lower than a Franz Hoffmann 1/16 violin that my friend lent to me: tiny paint dots accumulated on the f holes with a suspected crack on the left f hole (see second photo attached), glues below the chin rest fixture, obvious hand-painted black outlines on the body vs. refined outline on the previous violin we used, someone wrote “25” with pencil on the finger board and I suspected it was written my the manufacturer. But the pink paint on the body is smooth and lovely. The bow was hard for me to turn to tighten all the hair. But the bow has sufficient hair to make sound with a few still lose, so I am fine with it. Make sure your child’s arm length (from left neck to wrist) is not too long for this size because its body length is correct at 9” but the overall length was 0.5” short according to fiddlehead.com. But another brand on Amazon lists their 1/10 violins are only 15” long. My 4.5 years old child has just outgrown of this size. The top curve of the bridge was too flat and makes the child difficult to avoid touching two strings simultaneously with the bow according to one violin teacher but another teacher said it was okay. It is flatter than the 1/16 one I have, but a bridge should be easy to change. When I first received it, the bow couldn’t make sound until we kept applying rosin for about 15 minutes and tightened it. The strings also couldn’t seem to be able to stay in tune. But after a few uses, it could stay in tune for longer. Overall, it can make rather good sounds, better than the 1/16 one, and it is an acceptable violin for a beginner. ... show more

  • Something to know
Size: 1/10 Color: pink
This is very small. A lot smaller than I was expecting but perfect for our six year old little girl. The bow needs to be waxed heavily before it will produce any sound. At first we thought it was a dud but the more we waxed the bow the more sound it made once we got it waxed enough the sound is very beautiful!! I have recommended it already to all of my friends and family. Great buy! ... show more

  • Not Great
Size: 1/10 Color: pink
CUTE VIOLIN. Horrible sound and awful strings. So awful that one snapped while tuning. I’m hoping a new set of strings improves the sound.

  • Great for my 3 yr old to play with
Size: 1/10 Color: blue
OK I'm editing my review from 2 stars to now 4 stars. The case is very well made and can be carried "backpack" style. The violin is very cute and paying roughly $40 for it I think its a great little buy:) I wish it came with a guide or instructions, something. At first it made absolutely no sound. Watched YouTube and good to go! ... show more

  • Arrived Broken and completely unplayable
I am a fiddle player. I knew when I ordered this violin for my 4-year-old that I would not be receiving a top-notch instrument. I expected it to need a little fine-tuning to be playable. If I was unable to do the work myself, I was prepared to pay my luthier to fix the pegs or whatever. Not a problem. When I got this fiddle, it was broken beyond repair. The scroll was so damaged that it could not hold the pegs. The tailpiece was bent. One string was missing, and the bow was missing. I am really, really disappointed. ... show more

  • Terrible Quality
Size: 1/10 Color: pink
I’m not someone who often writes negative reviews, but this one was ridiculous. The purchase violin showed up with a bow that was completely broken, and crystalized rosin. One of the strings won’t stay tuned…as in you twist the knob and it immediately untwists showing that the screw is stripped completely. VERY disappointed. ... show more

  • Wish I knew more on violins but could of picked better!
Size: 1/16 Color: pink
Aesthetically was high impressed- but the bow strings came apart as soon as we took it out. Still learning to tune but may have to replace bow -
