I bought these for work because I’m on calls all day. They have great sound quality, they are easy to wear all day, even with glasses and the mic is fantastic for isolating background noise. The only down side is that they don’t fit well on smaller head size. I’m an avid supporter of the Skullcandy brand, owning various forms of their headphones over the years, both for gaming and otherwise. These just didn’t do it for me. So, I’ve tried both the basic and the $99 version of these now, hated both of them. I’ve been using the previous version of Slyrs from Skullcandy for over 6 years now on Xbox. The basic $60 version has terrible mic monitoring. I could barely hear myself unless the mic was practically in my mouth. The sound quality of content and other people talking was excellent but I need to be able to hear myself and that just wasn’t happening. People also said I sounded too loud, mostly because I had to have the mic so close to hear myself through the sound canceling cups, even with the monitoring on. This could be an Xbox issue but overall I just didn’t really care for them. It was also hard to balance the sound of games and content over player voices. The quality of sound drops off as you lower the volume of games. As for the $100 version. The wireless does not work with Xbox. At least, not as far as I found and if I have to look for more than 30 mins I’m not going to bother. The headphones are too complicated as well. I was also getting horrible feedback out of one cup for a while, finally got it to stop although I have no idea how. I was getting constant feedback through both mics, even with it muted and on that note Why? WHY, skullcandy, did you feel the need to have some robot woman come on and announce to me every time I mute the mic???? Do you know how annoying that is? It’s interrupting. I did not like that at all, that in and of itself was enough to make me return these. The balance of voice/game sound was also off to me, again this could be Xbox adding to the issue but I just don’t feel like fiddling with that kind of thing everyday. The old slyrs just work. Plug them in, hear yourself fine, balance is fine, simple. No need to mess with anything just plug and play, that’s what I was looking for and I was expecting that from this new version and didn’t find it. Could I maybe adjust to some of these issues over time? Yes. But I practically live in these headsets for a good part of my day and I don’t feel like dealing with minor adjustments or a voice telling me every time I mute myself. For $100 I expected more and the $60 version just isn’t as good as the $60 original SLYRS I love so dearly. I was expecting an updated version of what I already had but what I got was either a watered down version or a version with too many bells and whistles. 1. If you have a laptop without the mic-jack you will need to order an adapter. 2. Sound quality is fine and the ear pieces fit great. There is nominal pressure on the arms of my glasses as compared to even my more expensive headset. 3. My micboom does not work. At all. The light doesn't turn on to indicate it's getting power/I'm speaking an and did several tests on my computer that does have the Mic/Headphones jacks to confirm if the mute was on or off. I am a big fan of all skullcandy headphones has to offer the only things I'd like to change on these headphones is the mic is not movable so it is either strait out or not there, and it might of just been my pair but I can't seem to mute my mic when plugged into my controller (ps5) not sure if it just needs to the USB plugged into the ps5 itself as well or not.
