  • Nice big bag that holds a lot
Style: Mainframe Color: Dusty Rose
I was gifted a bag at my baby shower similar to this but with too many pockets so I bought another bag that then was too small for my quickly growing baby. My second bag did not have the frame opening which I found difficult when I was trying to look for something in the bag while I was also holding my baby. Then comes this bag! Frame opening which lets you see all the contents of the bag. It has 1 big “slide” pocket and two small stretchy pockets. It also has two outside water bottle sized pockets. Personally I wish that it was just 1 big open space that I could just organize myself as size 4 diapers don’t fit in the stretchy pockets and I find the slide pocket a bit useless. If you have bottles in the outside pockets, it takes up space inside the back. They are not made of “cooler” material but it has kept my water cold. There are two outside zip pockets, the top one is pretty deep while the bottom one is smaller, it has a phone pocket. It has two zippers and it can unzip and be fully open so do not put anything important in there or else it’ll fall out. You cannot zip this closed one handed. You need to hold the frame closed while zipping. I would rather be able to open the bag and get what I need one handed than close it (which my old bag that didn’t have a frame could open and close one handed but I needed to hands to look inside). The one main negative is the straps are thin and there is no padding like the other two bags I’ve owned. I wish they sold separate padding as it sometimes cuts into my armpits when wearing sleeveless tops. My one neutral criticism is that it only came in black and pink when I purchased and wish it came in a gray or blue. ... show more

  • Almost perfect
Style: Mainframe Color: Navy
First, I love Skip Hop products. This is my second diaper bag (first was the Forma, my all time favorite). I love almost everything about it; it's chic, lightweight, easy to clean, lots of room without being excessive, and the color (navy) is gorgeous. BUT, these straps are sub-par. They're uncomfortable and difficult to adjust, and will be tough to wear all day with any type of weight in the backpack. Definitely wish SkipHop would have invested in a better quality strap! Would have been the perfect diaper bag! ... show more

  • Don't let the straps dissuade you!
Style: Mainframe Color: Black
I purchased a Skip Hop Forma and returned after a couple of days because the quilting stitching was already coming loose. It was also quite bulky so I decided to simply return rather than exchange. I like Skip Hop, so enter the Mainframe. The material is fabulous. It has a slick nylon feel that will obviously clean up nicely. The outer pockets are thoughtfully sized- you can pack and organize and no pocket is deep enough for you to lose track of your items. The inside has two pockets that allow me to easily stash a few pullups and a few diapers. There will also be plenty of space for diapers when my newborn arrives. I like how I don't have to muscles the diapers into the pockets. They fit in quite nicely. I can fit spare changes of clothes for all four of my children in the remaining space and still easily zip it up. Now for the backpack straps. They appear to be uncomfortable, but in my opinion they are not. They appeared to be seat belt straps based on the pictures and I was nervous because a previous bag by JJ Cole had seatbelts straps and it was awful. These straps are soft and easy to adjust. To me they are better than the forma straps. Forma straps were comparable to walmart diaper bag straps to me and I didn't like the elementary-kid-strap drag they had going on. These have no extra line hanging off and are honestly quite comfortable. All in all, I think this bag will be perfect even for when baby number 5 arrives. ... show more

  • Trust the critical reviews.
Style: Mainframe Color: Dusty Rose
I was lucky to get a “like new” quality from the Amazon warehouse. The condition of the bag is not the issue it’s the claims that skiphop makes that are so wrong. “Wide mouth” well technically yes but because it pinched shut, it eliminates a good amount of space. If the bag is packed more than half way full, the front pockets are basically useless because the front is pulled so taught by the pinch close zipper. It definitely does not stay open on its own. The bag needs to be packed pretty good to have the top stay open “on its own”. Also, you cannot open the bag one handed because the zipper extends past the bag itself. As for the larger capacity, that’s not true at all. I have their original Forma bag and I love it. Honestly get that one over this one 100%. I’ve been trying to look for a bag that can top that one with more room but nothing has come close. I’ve bought three bags including this one and returned them all to stick with the Forma. I tried to fit what I had in my currents bag into this one and ran out of room where I still had a bit of space in the Forma. I was really surprised and disappointed by that. As I said before the front pockets are obsolete if you pack the body of the bag (as most parents do) so I won’t even comment on those. The side pockets are kind of the same and I wouldn’t call them insulated at all. They are open pockets and the don’t feel any thicker or any different from the body. If you put anything other than the diaper mat that the bag comes with inside the back pocket, wearing it as a backpack is really uncomfortable. I bought their other diaper changing pad that folds out and can store diapers on the go and that doesn’t fit comfortably in the bag, which is ironic. Personally the straps weren’t a problem at all. I think that with some padding they would definitely be better and add more comfort. Overall not impressed and I only have one baby, I can’t imagine trying to pack for two in this unless you’re an ex treat minimalist. Don’t even think about this bag if you cloth diaper lol. Get the Forma bag and you’ll thank me later! Best of luck to all parents <3 ... show more
