Since the Diaper Genie is no longer actually the Diaper Geenie, I set out to find something that doesn't open the the main disposal area every time a diaper is thrown away. I was happy to come across this as I was not coming up with an alternative in my research. I was hesitant due to some of the reviews but it's been a great investment so far. We've had it for only a little over a week so our opinion may change but will update here. So far haven't had any smell though our baby's diapers haven't really had any strong odors yet. It's easy to use. Open by pressing the top of the lid, drop in diaper, close lid, press button to drop diaper in can. Only 1 diaper can be disposed at a time and all wipes and garbage need to be contained and wrapped in the diaper. Make sure to press the release button all the way down to drop the diaper otherwise sometimes it will not fall. It does fill up quickly and usually only fills half a bag but it's heavy so you definitely don't want to try to keep adding to it to fill the bag. ... show more

Overall it works wonderfully. On a rare occasion the lock feature is a little sketchy when trying to unlock it and sometimes the diapers don’t drop so you have to shake it a little. But I’m satisfied with it. Definitely no awful smells and I love that I can use my kitchen bags.

I used the diaper genie with my first but you smelled every single diaper that went in. I don’t smell ANYTHING until it is time to change the bag. I do wish it was a little wider though. If you use regular garbage bags then when the pail stops closing properly or stops dropping diapers down because it is getting stuck on diapers that are close to the opening, the garbage bag will only be half full. Then I’m bringing all the small garbage cans throughout the house to the bag to fill it up so we aren’t wasting bags ... show more

I originally purchased this diaper trashcan because it was one of the few I found that could use standard sized trash bags and didn’t require you to buy special bags. We’ve been using it for 2 months and have very complaints.
