I recently offered to help my cousin wire up his entire new house in the UP, Michigan, Romex cabling throughout 3 stories with many rooms. Having done wiring for 50 years with conduit, Greenfield (BX), and Romex, I was up for the challenge except for the many staples that had to be placed correctly and sometimes in tight spaces. The hammer just doesn't hit the staple just right every time. Having focused on Ryobi tools and collected many over time, I was hoping they offered some portable palm hammer to be more efficient. No one makes such a tool but Skill. I gave it a try and was blown away with how well it worked out. Light weight, well balanced, with a great battery life. After using it for 3 days, up on ladders and tight locations, this has become one of my new favorite tools. Battery life exceeds the Ryobi ones known for long charge life. Makes me wish I spent more attention to the Skill tool products years ago. I would HIGHLY recommend this portable hammer with the right price tag. ... show more

I was in the process of earthquake bracing my home and knew I would need to hammer in a lot of nails to secure all the brackets. The crawl space is tight and swinging a hammer in many of the locations would be difficult at best and impossible in some. The first thing I discovered was that there are not a lot of auto hammers out there. This was one of the few I could find and was at a reasonable price. I can say that this SKIL Auto Hammer worked wonderfully. It IS loud and it did have difficulty in a few instances driving the nail completely but overall it made the job so much easier I would easily buy it again and would definitely recommend it. On a full charge I believe it was able to nail in over 120 1 1/2" nails before it ran out of juice. Put the battery on the charger, took a lunch break, and battery charged up enough to finish up the job. ... show more

I really stink at hammering smaller finish nails. Using this auto hammer makes my anxiety over those tiny nails bending go away. Lot of power in those 12 volts! Got it on sale, not worth the normal $100 price tag. It's built well enough and I bought it to install Romex staples in tight places. It works great for that and for driving nails. If Harbor Freight sold a cologne, this box and everything in it smells like it.

great product. i used it for roofing nails, and with the magnet i dont have to hold it. plus a real hammer is a good chance of slamming your finger. this tool is a must for hard to reach places and so quick in driving nail.

Took a chance on this as my pneumatic nailer was too loud and violent, I also didn't like that it would dent the wood I was nailing into, this doesn't, it stops when it should. I also wanted something cordless and light. I was thinking of getting the Milwaukee cordless palm nailer but at almost twice the price, and being more bulky, I decided to give this a shot. So far I really like it and hope it continues to perform well. With this, I don't think I even need my hammer anymore to drive any nails, it works that well. A little bit of a learning curve to drive nails straight, just start off slow until it is aligned, then hammer away. I only have a few Skil 12v tools, they are good for homeowners and diy but for pro's it would be tough. This nailer I would use in a pro setting though, probably the best of the Skil 12V tools I have used. ... show more
