The media could not be loaded. Please watch my video. You want a good basic kid with a solid iron this is a good choice. It's nicely packed in a good sized soft tool bag it comes with good steel, that is sharp files and a carbon steel scraper. You'll have to buy some good quality wax as the base wax is something I'm not aware of it's quality. I'd probably use this wax as my coating wax for storing boards and skis in the summer. The iron is a good flat surface iron it gets plenty hot but don't trust the dial. It does take a while to warm up. To make this kit significantly better I'd add a few more grits of Scotch-Brite or FiberText to add structure, a set of brushes for for base structuring, better wax, and a wire brush to clean the files. A nice touch is it comes with an apron.

If you're new to skiing/boarding, this is an excellent kit for getting started with maintaining and tuning up your skis or snowboard at home so you don't have to pay someone else to do it. It's a great selection of products, all of which seem to be decent quality, and if the instructions aren't clear enough for you to understand how to put them to best use, there are plenty of videos online to assist. I'm quite pleased with it so far and will research and replace components as they get used up or wear out.

Pretty complete kit. Everything you need to get started tuning your own skis (though ( like to use a ski vise and a rotobrush as well). The file too is pretty simple, but gets the job done. The iron works fine for waxing as does the scraper and brushes. I used my own wax rather than the included pack, so I can't say if it's any good, though I'd guess it is fine for normal recreational use. I haven't needed to use the ptex and metal scraper for base repairs, but they look fine. The whole kit costs the same as a tune or two, so why not give it a try, it isn't hard doing a passable job hot waxing skis, and it's much more convenient to do it yourself than to have to mess with a shop. This kit has everything you need to get started.
