Fit just like a sneaker, no floppy loose feel like I had with my muck boots. They are on the bulky side but I use them for short walks to the stand and for mucky chores so I don’t really care. Warmth is also good without being too much.

They look bulky, but they are not. Extremely comfortable, easy on/off. I believe you could short/medium hike in them. It is Sitka so the quality is unmatched. They are a little bougie, which the boys at camp will quickly point out. If you can handle a little razz, they are worth it.

hard to give these more than 3 stars but having owned other sitka kit, its deserved. PROS: very well built, can tell these will last a long time. very warm CONS: the foot on this boot is huge - think 1200gram boots from 10 yrs ago not particularly comfortable for walking - considerable lateral slop when walking on uneven ground and not a lot of ankle support. my feet hurt after walking 1/2 mile on hills.

I ordered these SITKA Back40 boots for my husband. He has tried several types of boots and can never find a comfortable pair. These SITKA boots are very well made and are very comfortable. To test them out, he wore them for an entire day while working in a very muddy field on our farm. Even climbing off and on a tractor all day, he said his feet stayed warm, and the boots did not hurt his feet at all. He wears a size 13 shoe, and the size 13 boot fits comfortably. He loves the rubber heel kick pad because it helps him take the boots off easily. I love the rubber heel kick pad because I don't have to pull his muddy boots off anymore! To be honest, I tease him that these boots look like something Elmer Fudd would wear. The style looks very bulky and clunky, but he said he doesn't care what they look like, as long as they are comfortable. To make you smile, please see the photo of him modelling the boots. He is wearing his Christmas PJs that the grandkids got him last year for Christmas. He told me he would NEVER wear those PJs, and now we are trying to find another pair because he has worn these out.

The media could not be loaded. This review is for the Sitka Back 40 neoprene waterproof boots, and I’m giving them 5 out of 5. I already own a camo pair that I use for hunting, and since they’ve held up so well, I picked up another pair specifically for metal detecting. The boots have a thick neoprene build and a snug ankle-lock fit when you slide your foot in, which helps keep them stable despite their bulkier profile. They’re fully waterproof and do a great job keeping out snow, creek water, and swamp mud. I hunt and detect in northern Indiana, and these have kept my feet warm enough on their own, but they’re also roomy enough inside to layer up with smart wool or heated socks on colder days. A few practical notes from experience. These boots are great for ladder stands or climbing sticks, but they do not work well with climbing tree stands. The toe area is too bulky to fit properly into a climber’s foot bar, so I avoid using them for that style of hunting. For ambush-style sits and general walking, they’re perfectly comfortable. The traction pattern provides solid grip in wet or soft ground, and the height of the boot is ideal for swampy or flooded areas. Recently I’ve been detecting an old farmstead with deep waterlogged spots, and these boots are exactly what I needed to prevent water from collapsing over the tops of my previous pair. Pros: • Fully waterproof and warm • Snug ankle-lock fit that stabilizes the boot • Roomy interior for layering thicker socks • Comfortable for ambush-style hunting and general walking • Excellent for swampy ground and waterlogged areas • Strong tread for traction Cons: • Too bulky for use with climbing tree stands • A bit heavier than some lightweight boots Bottom line: These are dependable, well-made neoprene boots that excel in cold, wet conditions. They’re ideal for hunting styles that don’t require a climber and perfect for metal detecting in swampy or snowy terrain. I highly recommend them.

These are very nice boots! They come up quite high on the leg, for extra protection. They're so soft and warm inside, too! They seem to fit about as expected (a size 13) , although my son varies between a 12 and 13 depending on the shoe. They definitely make your feet look large, but I think that's expected with insulation. These boots slide right over jeans, without having to tuck them in (although this will depend on your calf size). My son also tried pulling his jeans down over the boots, just to check if it would work. It was a bit of a challenge, but it did work! (See photos) The tread is nice and aggressive for good traction in wet and icy weather. I really think this are going to be really great for all kinds of outdoor cold-weather activities, like target shooting, hunting, farm/ranch work, etc.
