  • Taught myself how to sew on this machine
Style: M1000 NEW Version
I have never sewn in my life before today. This little machine is perfect for beginners like me. I watched 2 You Tube videos, studied the parts names, threaded the machine and made a pillow case all in 2 hours. It only weighs 5 pounds and is super easy to store if you don’t have a dedicated space for it. It’s not loud at all and it can sew really thick material. I can tell I am going to use this a lot to make dog collars, bandanas and bows. UPDATE* 3 months in and the machine went kaput. ... show more

  • Sweet & Small Home Sewing Solution
Style: M1000 NEW Version
We bought it as my wife wanted to try some DIY on her clothes. I was scared at first because I am used to those old school big sewing machines from back in the days. This solution was surprisingly good. So, far we have attempted to work on sarees (traditional indian), sherwani (indian) and cotton clothing. The machine works brilliantly. The thread and associated tools kit is also very helpful for a beginner to get started on sewing immediately. The instructions were easy to follow & we were up and running in no time. I would say that for think clothing, it does struggle at time which is expected given the size. But if does smartly it will be able to sew through. Definitely recommend. ... show more

  • Broke during first use. I have to pay to ship to a warranty repair location.
Style: M1000 NEW Version
The media could not be loaded. I bought this to shorten and hem some new curtains. The motor started going very slow, the light would dim, and it wont make any stitches. It wont even run the bobbin winder which does not have any load on it. It was just outside the Amazon return window, so I called Singer support. Now I have to pay half the cost of the machine to ship it to a location that might or might not repair it. I have only used it this one time, to sew about 20 feet worth of relatively light curtain material. It took a while to set up, it was not really easy but I think its standard for sewing machines. The instruction manual was very basic, and didn't have any detail, so I had to watch youtube videos to understand it. I finally got it working, although it took me longer to set it up than it ran before it broke. I was doing simple stitching, similar to what they describe in the product listing. It goes relatively slow, no speed control, but that was known. I hemmed the bottom of 2 curtains, but on the third it kept slowing down and would barely stitch. It would go for a second, then slow down, the light would dim, and then it would go another tiny bit before stopping again. This happened while I was sewing 2 layers of fabric, and its not a heavy fabric. Even when I removed the fabric and tried to wind a new bobbin and start over, it would not run the bobbin winder without slowing down. I gave up and called support. The rep tried to tell me it was a "mending" machine, and so I might have overused it. I'm concerned that she was prepping me to say they won't fix it, even though what I was doing was consistent with the uses and images on the Amazon site (the shirt cuff they show in the images looks heavier than my fabric). They did not offer any troubleshooting, or ways to test it to see what was wrong. She told me there were 3 warranty repair locations in my state, but they are over 6 hours away and she said they do not accept shipments, only walk-ins. But she kept trying to give me their numbers, and said I could call and ask. It was clear she was trying to blow me off and get me off the phone, and I'm sure the locations are tired of people asking. Then I asked for a location I can ship to, it's multiple states away, but of course I have to pay to ship it. I can't be certain that they will repair it or replace it, so I have to decide if I want to pay half the cost of the machine and roll the dice, but I'm not optimistic given the response so far. When searching for this I saw some similar machines for about $30 that would have done what I wanted. I decided to spring for the $80 machine, thinking it would be good to keep around and use in the future. In hindsight I probably could have bought 3 or 4 of the cheaper ones, and threw them away if they broke, and I would still be ahead. Now I can't complete my project, and I'm sure I'm going to get into Customer Service hell where they do their best to beat me down until I give up and stop trying. This is way more frustration than its worth. Update, I called the warranty repair location that does accept shipments. They told me they will not work on these machines because they consider them a "toy", with plastic parts that break easily. This was an independent business, not a singer facility, so I was frustrated but understanding. The support system is 0 for 4, recommending 3 places I can't drive to, and a place that accepts shipments but wont work on this model. ... show more

  • Quality
Style: M1000 NEW Version
Works great just get good thread. Follow the instructions for threading it For us older people it’s a little bit of a pain but no worse than other machines. Does not seem to go through any thick like 2 layers of jeans material but normally hemming or basic repair

  • Singer sewing machine
Style: M1000 NEW Version
I bought this for my granddaughter’s 8th birthday and she loves it! It is easy to use, lightweight and has all the basic stitches for a beginning sewer. Would recommend for young and new sewers.

  • The best thing since sliced bread!
Style: M1000 NEW Version
I have a singer at home so I stuck with another one for travel. This is the best little machine for mending light weight items. If you have used a singer in the past it threads similarly. The only thing different is I can’t figure out if it has an on/off switch. So I just unplug it. If you are in need of a low cost little machine. I would recommend! ... show more

  • Difficult for beginners
Style: M1000 NEW Version
This isn’t the best machine but it gets the job done (sort of). The thread gets stuck easily when coming out of the bobbin area and it takes a while to retread it through the hole. I would honestly just spend the 40 extra bucks and get a better quality one. This one works but not without its challenges. ... show more

  • Mighty little sewing machine
Style: M1000 NEW Version
This is such a great sewing machine. Lightweight and so portable I was able to plug it in and use it right away and after making a new bobbin. I was able to repair several pieces of clothing which a tailor’s fee would’ve exceeded the cost of this mighty little sewing machine. Great zig zag stitch to help w knits. ... show more
