Item was very well packaged and well protected with internal cardboard and heavy weight paper wrapped around the wood components. The hardware was also well packaged in individual Ziploc bags with clear #'s on each bag matching the pictures in the instructions. A bag of extra hardware bits was also included, which was very nice to see. Assembly was very straightforward with very clear illustrations and step by step instructions. I assembled this solo and had no issues, but an extra pair of hands would be helpful at point of attaching the sides. This was the only point where I ran into issue getting cam lock screws to align with all the holes at same time. I had to loosen a couple just a bit and then everything dropped into place. The last step was attaching the 3 back panels. The panels have holes pre-cut for the screws, but the unit itself does not have pre drilled holes for the screws. I dry fitted the panels one at a time (left , middle, right) and used a sharpie to mark the top 2 holes on each panel, and drilled a small pilot hole to make it easier to get the first few screws secured. After that, I used portable drill with a Phillips bit to install the remaining wood screws , without drilling pilot holes. A small Allen key is provided for tightening screws, but I used my own ratcheting driver for most of the assembly. Attaching the top , there wasn't space to use the ratcheting driver, so I had to use my own, longer, Allen key wrench. Not a big deal, but did take a bit longer. Whether you use hand tools or powered drill with Phillips & Allen bits, I would caution against over tightening ( the instruction manual also warns against this on nearly every step) because the tolerance on the pre drilled holes has a little room for play. If you tighten cam bolt screws too tight they may not align exactly. I ran into this on attaching the sides. Overall, I am very satisfied with this purchase. For this price I didn't expect hand crafted fine furniture, but it looks very nice and is sturdy ( not wobbly at all) and is perfect for holding my vinyl record collection and accessories. ... show more

Assembly was quick and easy; all the parts aligned nicely. I did drill skinny pilot holes for attaching the back, and I'm glad I did. It looks beautiful, finish is nice, color as described, and it blends well with our more expensive furniture. Great value for the price!

Great shelf. It definitely leans towards an orangey medium wood, but worked well in my office. Wood quality feels solid and heavy. Parts were labeled and Instructions were clear. You won't need a drill unless you want to attach the back panels.

It's a nice bookcase for storing vinyl records. Easy to assemble using the instructions, although you want to take your time. Several previous reviews complain that the top shelf is too short to house the records, but mine is adequately sized. Overall a nice addition!
