I got this because I was tired of having to re-thread my sewing machine just to fill a bobbin. What a treat that it fills the bobbin SO FAST!!! On the machine, I'd start the winding and then do something else while it finished. With this, I don't even have time to pick up something else - its already done! It winds with good tension and reasonably evenly (more evenly than my machine!) - no issues so far. It looks/feels a little on the cheesy side, with what seems like flimsy plastic pieces, but wow! - those pieces work fast! And really, we're just talking about winding thread, for goodness sake - it doesn't need to be super strong, just super functional. And it certainly is that! I use the AC adaptor, and just keep it plugged in. It's a neat little case that closes right up - so it doesn't even get dusty. Definitely a good purchase! ... show more

The unit I recieved didn't work properly. There were 2 speeds...on and off. The winding went so fast and would not stop and the thread ended up overflowing to the spindle but the machine continued to wind it. I had to unplug it to turn it off. The little button to push to turn on had no effect in turning it off. Having read the reviews, I took a chance but for the price it should have worked, but felt like cheap junk. I used it with both regular and serger threads. If you use a serger bobbin, you need to hold it up at an angle like on the picture. If you use the automatic stop feature, the bobbin will not be fully full, you will need to continue manually to fill it a bit more. As you can see on the pictures (for the green thread), I have use the automatic stop feature on one (has the least thread), and I continue pressing on the read button until full for the other bobbin. On the pictures, you can also see that the filling of the bobbins are not even, but it doesn’t bother me. The tension is good, and the quite strong. For the green thread, it was not that noisy, but for the purple, it was more noisy. I did notice that the purple thread was spread more evenly than the green one. Putting and removing the bobbin on the feeder was a bit hard; I hope it will last in time. The winder is very easy to use and the speed is right. I love, love this bobbin winder. In just a few minutes, I have 5 bobbins wound and ready to go. Getting ready for quilt retreats is easy peasy. You don't need to unthread your machine to wind a bobbin.

I really wanted to love this but unfortunately it will be getting returned. Definitely not worth the price. Very flimsy as others have mentioned. The worst part is you end up with a half filled bobbin every time. The winding was tight for the most part but the way it fills the bobbin is just ridiculous. Perhaps it’s my style of bobbin or user error but it’s pretty straight forward. I did read other reviews that were less than stellar but decided to take a chance in the hopes that this time saving gadget would be the ticket to unthreading my machine every time I need a new bobbin. ... show more
