This desiccant can is awesome when used properly. It is NOT for dehumidifying a living space, buy an electric dehumidifier for that. It is for gun, electrical, filament storage cabinets. The view window is NOT plastic. Seriously, I wish people wouldn't spread false information. I use this product in a vacuum chamber to absorb residual moisture. It works well, but does not have the same surface area as the smaller tubes. It is better to have multiple smaller tube desiccants from this company due to surface area. If extreme drying is needed, back fill your chamber with dry nitrogen first and then let this device absorb residual moisture. ... show more

Received in a sealed bag and beads were orange as shown. 1 month out of the bag and all the beads are black. Instructions say, when the beads turn green, needs to be baked to reactivate. Don't know what shade of green.? Is the black color, really a dark green? Don't know and will update once I find out. ... show more

    • A couple of misstatements in the listing make this purchase questionable.

So, I just received this item, and you may wonder why I'm reviewing it now rather than after some time of use. The reason is the listing itself. I find inconsistencies with it, and it bothers me. First, they state that the unit does not have a plastic sheet window, as comparable units do. I guess the other units are the Hornady, from which this was cloned. The Hornady does have issues with the plastic windows, and if you read the reviews many have noted that the window melted when they tried to recharge the unit. On this one the window is ABSOLUTELY plastic. No doubt in my mind. They say it's not "plastic sheet", but in fact it's plastic and flat. I can't imagine that this came from anything other than a sheet. Very disappointed with this. Secondly, in the listing they say that you recharge for 4 hours at 250 degrees. However, check out the photos of the unit itself. In the pics you will see that the top of the unit clearly states that you heat it at 300 degrees for up to 4 hours. So what is the implication here? Clearly, the window on this unit melts at 300 degrees, just as the Hornady unit does. I'm guessing that many, many complaints prompted the manufacturer to lower the recharge time to 250 degrees... but it STILL says 4 hours at 300 degrees on the unit!!! How many consumers will actually remember NOT to heat to 300 degrees when they finally opt to recharge the unit? Not many, is my guess. I don't know how well this unit works, and frankly, I don't care. What I do know is that the seller has been deceptive (at the least), and perhaps has lied (at the worst).
