  • Best Machine for Stickers
Color: White
I needed a machine that would allow me to do kiss cut stickers and just more over all control in the hands of the user, the Silhouette Cameo 5 delivers that. In started with a Cricut Maker 3 it doesn't even offer kiss cut settings and the software gives only limited cut control to the user. I tried numerous hacks but I was never able to get kiss cut out of it. For stickers the Cameo five default settings are for kiss cut and I was able to easily adjust the settings for die cut and the need to cut through a second layer of clear laminate. I also like the software, which has the same basic told as the illustration software I use. I was able to draw a free form cut path and a rectangle with rounded corners cut path. My one issue with the software is using the print to cut set up, it shows me to use more of the sticker sheet then Cricut but not so if it. I'm experimenting with creating print layouts that use the entire sheet and creating the cut paths myself. The machine is quieter than the Cricut Maker 3. I'm not impressed with the cut mat. It got very dirty, very quickly. I went to shabby l clean it the same way I cleaned my cricut mats, a little soap and water and the adhesive came right off. I will soon be investing in the electro static cut mat. It will be with it to have a consistently clean cut surface that doesn't damage it bend my materials. Bottom line, the Cameo 5 is more complicated but the better choice for the artist and creator that is doing their own thing. ... show more

  • What a piece of Crap, seriously! No More Cameos for me
Color: White
I had the Cameo 4, and it has its good and bad days, but mostly satisfactory, but as of July 2024 (3/4 of a year ago), I decided my business was getting bigger, and I needed something faster. i stupidly purchased the Cameo 5. OK, what a scam! First off, the 5 is really not much faster at all, because when you add speed, you get awful results if you're a sticker maker. The auto blades are a joke. I had to max the settings out to get these to work, where as with the 4, I was able to gradually raise the settings as the blade wore down over months. The Bluetooth AGAIN just like the 4, rarely connects. In fact, I got so frustrated, I just plugged the damn thing in with a USB cable. Now today, it's making a grinding noise when it begins the first cut, then pauses, then the cut head goes high speed to the right side off the sticker sheet. It's now defective. I want to hurl this machine right at the design department for this monstrosity of tech. Stick with your 4, or go for another brand. ... show more

  • Much Quieter than a Portrait 3
Color: White
I decided to get the Cameo due to the improvement in the noise level and the ability to use a rotary blade. It is much quieter than my Portait 3. It cuts faster, too. I have tried the rotary blade and can get a nice cut on 1mm thick cork...but not 2mm cork.

  • So far very good, much better for me than cricut machines that I"ve used before
Color: White
When I got this I had heard a lot about the larger range of capabilities of the Silhouette software and the hardware -- the cutting machine. I've used Cricuts before, and I've made the right choice here by going with the silhouette Cameo 5. I'm still just getting introduced to this machine and this ecosystem of software, pre-made designs, and the range of hardware tools. I made a simple test project and just based on this, I can see that this is more oriented toward supporting higher production work, but if you are just a hobbyist you benefit as well. For example, if vinyl is left on the map and the mat is left in the machine, any defects in a 'cut' can be remedied by a 2nd pass over the same vinyl. Once a piece of vinyl is on a mat and cut, a tiny "test" cut can be placed in the negative space of that vinyl with its design. That can assist in detecting any corrections needed in the speed, force, and passes (in addition to blade depth) needed. In the proceeding sentence you can see the deeper level of control available to the crafter. In cricut, I can only adjust force (pressure), and no second passes to cut again are possible. The new user experience could be improved by a few simple sentences on the box or on a "newby" instruction sheet. Enter your serial number which appears on the outside of the box, on the Silhouette website, register your machine, and create an online account and immediately check your email to "verify" your new account. I lost two days "waiting" for the online account to be accepted. What was missing was a simple line telling me to go to email to 'verify'. If there are big negatives as I work more with this machine, I'll update this review. But for now, things are proceeding smoothly. ... show more
