I've used other mats from Balancefrom for breakfalls & other Judo practice and they've been great. This one has the same 2 inch padding that I've come to love from their other products. It's a 4 star because while it says 4'x8' it's actually 4'x9.5', which isn't a big deal just figured I'd mention it. For reference I'm 225 and have no problem using these as crash mats. I purchased three of these mats, have them setup in the house, and have been using them regularly. They're holding up well with no tears or issues. The Velcro that holds them together hasn't failed and the padding is holding up nicely.

This mat has excellent bounce. The cover is suitable for private use and kindergarten. For heavy weight strong adults training Judo I would recommend a tougher cover material. But this is why this mat is so affordable. As said: sturdy enough for use by kids. We have the mat inside and also outside on grass. When we first opened the box there was a strong chemical scent. However, that is normal and I remember when I went to school and we had gotten new mats, they were smelly for a while. The smell of this mat was gone after about two days of airing out. For future purchases I would take it out of the box in the garage, unfold it and let it sit there for two days and then take it inside. The box says Balancefrom, and this is also printed on the mat. If I included the price into my rating it would get 5 stars. Not adjusting for the low price I rate it a happy 4 stars. ... show more

I ordered this for my girls to practice gymnastics on and had selected the stars and strips version….however, what I actually got in the mail was the multicolored version. So that was a huge disappointment, and as I really needed it and it fulfilled its safety purpose I did not return it. The incorrect colors features a light blue underside and a top of green, light blue, red, and yellow sections. The size is as described, it does have good quality although I wish it were a slightly better foam. It isn’t the cheap super squishy foam that doesn’t actually protect you so that’s a great plus. I can kneel on it and not sink to the floor so there is some protection from concrete with the 2” thickness. The mat also features carrying handles on both ends and I found that helpful when jostling it around the tight space under a bar stand. ... show more
