I had, obviously, not read the description in detail so I expected solid wood. This was not a requirement and so when I realized it was MDF I was OK. It is very flat, and when I cut into it (for a recessed outlet), it showed a dense packing of fine-grained wood material, unlike cheap plyboard with laminate. It has some form of lamination so care needs to be taken when cutting as the laminate might tear away around the cut (taping might help here). Assembly was not as easy as it could have been. There is only a drawing and no written instructions. That would be mostly fine were it not for the fact that two of the legs need to be oriented opposite from the other two. They are labeled with different letters so I did figure it out, but even a small piece of text pointing this out would be helpful to some. No tool/wrench was provided to tighten the bolts, so be aware! Tightening does not seem to (easily) reach an "end", I suspect because a tension is developed between two pieces and so one could possibly overtighten things. Once assembled everything worked out as I wanted. I needed something square, at least 24" on the side, and higher than 22". This was one of the few tables I found that fit that bill. The additional shelf on the bottom was a big plus for me. The bottom of the legs, however, is unadulterated MDF. While it may have been planed properly at 90 degrees, it would be easy for this table to have a little wobble when placed on an apparently flat, but not quite, surface, such as my tile floor. Additionally, since the legs are "thick" not all of the bottom may make contact with the floor if there is some unevenness. Also, sliding the table around on a hard surface might scratch, and certainly would be noisy. I fixed the "problem" with some felt pads. Of course, long-term performance, and surface reaction to liquids/spills are not something I have been able to test, so no comment on that. This table was substantially cheaper than many other, somewhat similar, products, and had the extra shelf. Got it at a discount too (compared to other colors). Overall happy. ... show more
