  • Excellent table. WORST PACKAGING EVER.
Color: Brown
The short version: The package arrives, it takes about 150 sq ft of floorspace to spread out the parts, mainly due to all the stupid styrofoam. Building the table is easy; if you're not a complete moron it will take under an hour. The cleanup is dreadful. You will have to break down tons of styrofoam, after which you will be vacuuming up styrofoam for hours. The finished table is great, besides a few minor faults. The long version: The company informed us that the table would "definitely" be here yesterday. I had bought it for my wife as a surprise, since she hated our old table. So yesterday, after receiving yet another confirmation that it would DEFINITELY be here by 8, I spent two hours rearranging the living room, and hacking the old coffee table into small enough pieces that I wouldn't have to wait until Large Objects Pickup to put it out on the curb. Unfortunately, the third-party seller was full of it. Thus, we spent last night with no coffee table, and the surprise was ruined for my wife. When the parcel arrived at 11 AM today, it was battered, wet, and the postman had tossed it just inside the front door to the building. While 100+ lbs isn't unmanageable, it's unwieldy in a narrow Brooklyn apartment building. Getting it inside finally, I opened it up - and tiny little balls of styrofoam went EVERYWHERE. The unwieldiness of the box was easily explained seeing this. They couldn't have spent a buck or two more for proper foamcore that is better for the environment and doesn't dirty up our flat like a boss? In any case, by 11:30 I had spread out all the parts - each of which had been surrounded by styrofoam. No joke, it looked like it had snowed in here. I quite literally spent the next 45 minutes on damage control, until I had to stick the hand-vac back on the charger. At 12:15 I assembled the table. It took maybe 20 minutes, max. If you use the included wrench instead of putting an appropriate bit into a power drill, add another 10 minutes to that. Seriously, a trained monkey could assemble this. Maybe an untrained monkey. Compared to certain Scandinavian manufacturers that shall go nameless, this thing's instructions were pure gold, everything actually fit, and they included the requisite hardware in the correct numbers. Big win there. My Mom could probably build this, and while you probably haven't met my Mom, just take it to mean that you - whoever you are - can assemble this. Now comes the horrible part. My apartment was COVERED with styrofoam bits ranging in size from a few grains of salt to a marble. And I mean, this stuff was going airborne and sticking to anything it could latch onto. Things eight feet away from any of this were getting covered. It took 20 minutes to build this very nice table, and over 2 hours and 2 battery recharges to vacuum up all the detritus. And despite all this styrofoam, there were still tiny surface scratches (gripe 1/3 about the product itself). Honestly, I have never purchased ANYTHING with more annoying packaging than this. Packing peanuts annoy the heck out of me. This nonsense made me have homicidal visions. Now, as to the table itself: 4.5 out of 5. It's a great piece of furniture, aesthetically pleasing, with nice sliding barn doors for ample storage below, on castors, and quite sturdy. It's large enough to fit both of our laptops, my giant scanner, some external peripherals, coasters for drinks, etc on top - all of which can easily be stowed away to entertainment. It looks great as a knock-off antique in an apartment full of proper antique. I do have three gripes with it: (1) Minor surface scratches (though not on the main panels) caused by the fact that some of the idiotic styrofoam shifted during shipping. (2) The castors do not have breaks on them. Typical castors have breaking mechanisms to hold the furniture in place - for example, while making 6400 dpi scans of glass-plate negatives. I guess it's my fault for assuming, but seriously, what kind of design choice is that? (3) The sides have about a 3mm variance from the front and back in terms of their distance from the ground. It's a minor cosmetic thing, but what can I say - I'm a perfectionist. Overall - 4.5/5, which would normally round up because I really liked the ease of assembly and like the table, but which I'm rounding down due to the experience of dealing with the moronic packaging. Cleaning pulverized styrofoam up for two-and-a-half hours was as much fun as being kicked in the wobblies by a drunken circus clown - that is to say, the very opposite of fun, and rather quite excruciating. ... show more

  • Nice coffee table, with some things to be aware of...
Color: Brown
I really like how much bigger and sturdy this coffee table is compared to my older table. Definitely happy with the table and the sliding doors and overall look. There are coaster wheels on the bottom, which makes it very easy to move around, even on carpet. You’ll be thankful for that when it’s vacuum time. Now for the bad. As other reviewers have mentioned, there is tiny little bits of styrofoam that stick to everything. So it’s recommended to unpack it outside (which I did), and individually bring the pieces in to minimize it being inside your home. I also seemed to have a lot of tiny little silica pieces that must have leaked out of the silica bag. It was all over the place. Also, some abrasions and scratches occurred on the inside dividers. Each individual piece was wrapped in a sort of styrofoam sheet to protect it, but apparently it shifts quite a bit during shipping. Lastly, for those asking, it is laminate, the entire thing. I’m not sure in this day and age, you can get full on wood at this price, and it would definitely be much heavier. I would recommend the coffee table, just be aware of the points I mentioned. ... show more

  • Nice Coffee Table
Color: Brown
I love Ashley Furniture first of all. I look and search for Furniture and always end up picking Ashley Furniture. This table is good for us because it doesn't have thin legs on it, so we can push it back and forth and don't have to worry about it breaking. The storage is always a plus.

  • Amazing table!
Color: Grey
I love this table! We also bought 2 matching end tables. It’s really sturdy, perfect size and color! This was also the easiest piece of furniture that I have ever assembled. I would highly recommended this table to anyone. The only problem was with the shipping. The first one came damaged. I think this is because the table goes through about 6 stops before it made it to my house. I noticed the only bad reviews were with the shipping, so amazon may need to look into that. However, Amazon was amazing about the issue. They sent out a replacement immediately and picked up the damaged one. So thank you Amazon! Kudos to Ashley Furniture for making such an awesome table that was easy to assemble! ... show more

  • Beautiful! Love it!
Color: Brown
I was hesitant to buy this after reading so many reviews in which people were complaining about damage. Mine did also come with some minor damage, but it wasn't visible once assembled. The damage wasn't caused by shipping though. It was clearly during packing or manufacturing. Other than that, the table is beautiful. Very sturdy, the hardware is all in great working order - the doors slide perfectly and the casters roll as they should. I'm very happy with it. *Pro-tip - unpack it outdoors and bring each individual piece into the house. That packing is a nightmare! The styrofoam breaks apart into a million little pieces and balls, and the static electricity sticks it to everything (including my dog). 4 days later, I'm still finding pieces. ... show more

  • Beautiful table
Color: Grey
So while this started off rough, overall I really like this table. First off, the first package came severally damaged and so were the items inside. I took a second chance and just ordered a replacement. The second box came intact but just barely. It was one wrong move away from breaking open. Back to the item at hand. The table is very sturdy and beautiful. We have the matching side table and kitchen set so this fits in perfectly in our home. Would recommend but maybe directly from a furniture store to avoid shipping issues. Was easy to put together. Took less than 30 mins. ... show more

  • A packaging MESS. Be prepared!
Color: Brown
So, after reading several reviews about how it arrived damaged in the box - I ALMOST didn’t order it. But I’m so glad that I did! It’s BEAUTIFUL! Sturdy and rich in color. The only complaint I have is that the packaging was awful to deal with. Little pieces of white snow everywhere. I used a lint roller to deal with it all. Which took more time than the actual assembly. ... show more
